No it's not bad, but hear me out. If anything, you're altering what God gave you by choice. You should be happy with God or your parents have give you. That is from a religious standpoint. Now from a non-religious standpoint, your parents gave you your looks by genetics. Intense surgery for this reason is mainly because either the person is a perfectionist and has to have the BEST looking face, etc, or they want to get rid of minor things to make them look "average." It's these tiny little imperfections that make us human. No one is perfect, so what's the point in trying? I mean, you can get close in looks, but never completely flawless. The people that go through the surgeries are insecure of the way they appear to others. Comparing yourself to someone else is the same way.

The doctors should also have a bit more control. All they care about is getting paid. Would they stop you if there was nothing wrong? Maybe a few, but the vast majority would not. It's their job. Therefor, the only person in control of the situation is the person enduring the surgery. These patients should realize that what they're doing in EXTREMELY unnecessary and just move on with their lives.

This is not a question of morality, so much as it is one of insecurity.

No. How about you go back to the spam zone, and stop spamming the duscussion forum? This is a place for people like me to INTELLIGENTLY discuss things, not to cut down other's ideas with 3 word answers. Try writing about WHY I'm wrong, not just insulting me.

The reason why Michel Jackson had plastic surgery is probably because he was in the entertainment industry. Maybe he had work done on his nose to stay on top of the rest in our youth obsessed culture.

I think plastic surgery is a lot like getting laser eye surgery instead of wearing glasses or contacts.
I think that it's okay to get plastic surgery only if your looks are interfering with your life.

I don't agree with people getting plastic surgery just to perfect this, or perfect that, but I'm sure many of us would under go this surgery of it had become affordable.

I agree that it shouldn't matter. But how we look like is a part of our life. If it doesn't matter if someone got lipo, why judge them? Why say it's wrong?

But I don't agree that transgenderism is a choice. Outright denying it frustrates me, but that is a discussion for another thread.

If it makes yu more confident, then it can't nescarily (or however you spell it) be a bad thing. Sure I probably won't do it, but if it's for good reasons then I may support my friends. What happens if genetics gave you G cup brests which gives you back ackes, I'd want to get rid of them. What happens if you don't feel comfortable with the "bits" you're givesn (eg sex change) I'd get rid of them. It's what makes you comfortable not anyone else

I don't feel I could say that no one should get plastic surgery. It definitely has its benefits with helping burn victims, obese people, over-sized breasts that are an inconvenience, skin problems, hair removal, etc. Technically there's so much that is aesthetic and yet beneficial health-wise. This can include lasik surgery for eyes too. Botox doesn't really phase me either.

I think the only thing that gets to me about plastic surgery really is when someone puts implants in themselves such as breast implants or muscle implants to make like they have something they just don't. Implants to me just look unattractive and fake. However, I wouldn't say that a person should be denied in getting them, despite the fact I'd never want something in me that was not well... part of me. It's a person's right to do it, just as it is to get a tattoo, and well, I like my tattoos so I would feel kind of hypocritical to say that a person cannot decorate up his/her body how he/she sees fit. Just because I don't like it as in it's not attractive to me at all really, it doesn't mean I would think less of the person for doing it really because it's their body.

People pay for it, people get paid for it. It doesn't affect anyone except the recipient. So I say go ahead. We've got bigger problems than the question of whether Jenny's C cups are real or fake.

On the topic of religion, consider this: Instead of saying that we are meddling with god's will, why not take the approach that since god has a hand in everything that happens, this is his way of aiding those who feel insecure. He gives them what they desire. It just so happens that instead of it magically happening, he uses doctors to deliver the gift like he used Jesus to deliver the miracles.

Of course, being an atheist, I think religion should hold as much ground in this argument as the K.K.K. should hold in relevance to black civil rights.

    Hm....

Well, if its for medical reasons, then its ok, like, your friend's breast reduction was giving her back propblems, thats ok.

And to change your look, well, I understand people getting plastic surgery to change their look but unless your SUPER fat, Then i wouldn't do it. No one really cares what you look like, and if they do, well, they're stupid.

I'm using the old, 'unique beauty' thing here but its true. Everybody is beautiful in their own way, You shouldn't change that.

Michael Jackson had plastic surgery to make him look like a white woman. It failed horribly, and now it can't even be in direct sunlight. It had nothing to do with the entertainment industry, just one man/woman's stupidity in thinking he/she/it coud swap genders and skin colors.

I don't really have a problem with it, at least in principle.

If someone is unhappy about the way he/she looks, I think the individual should have the right to do something about it. Pursuit of happiness and all that.

That's not to say I'd automatically agree with every plastic surgery operation, though.

I don't see it a problem, as long as it's not over used.
If there's a problem or you want to look better, then it's okay.
It's not good when you're changing everything.

Ummmm, you're dumb. Michael Jackson was diagnosed with a condition called vitiligo, which is a deficiency in the pigment in his skin causing it to bleach. Typically vitiligo comes in patches across the body, but compounded with a serious case of Lupus, an auto-immune disease, allowed the condition to spread throughout his body.

I agree with the religious point-of-view, but comparing the K.K.K to us is like comparing Hitler to... Crap... We have so many Evil people, but when it comes to the Saints, we're not allowed to have them. >,< We can't even use the name "Army of God" to describe our preaching abroad anymore. Freakin' terrorists.

Anyway, the Catholic-Kid is back for a short time, and I've said what I've had to say about Plastic surgery, pretty much, except that there are definately two types of plastic surgery, from a comical point of view:

There is the case of a female breaking her back to lift probably the equivelant of a gallon or more of milk on her chest, perverts will now stop snickering, and the other case is a woman with extensive surgery who pushes the doors of building open, not with her hands, and walks in five minutes later.

I'm alright for the idea of plastic surgery. If someone really wants a bigger bust or smaller nose, fine. For medical reasons, I see plastic surgery as a very useful surgery for patients.

My only dilemma with plastic surgery is that it's become such a high-paying fad that it's affecting other people now. Dermatologists want to book plastic surgery patients instead of patients who truly have a skin disease because plastic surgery pays better. When plastic surgery starts to take up doctor's time from taking care of real patients, then I am against plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons.

Disclaimer: I am a dude. I am a human dude. However, I am a Catholic and aside from that benefit, principaly level-headed, who is not restrained by the biases of stereo-types about disobeying their own faith. Therfor, let me say, I did not do anything , shall we say, rash(?) when I did some researching into this field.

As it turns out, many Hooters Sports Restaurants require their workers who have the eponymous(?) anatomy to be a certain bra size. This will often press certain women into having surgery done. This is wrong.

I recall another stereo-type about a different sub-class of people known as Asians or Orientals to be very "flat-chested". This is where that aforementioned research became... risky to my staying on the internet. (Or staying alive for that matter) Merely search "gravure" or "Rin Aoki" in any Image Search engine, and you most likely be tempted to do any of several vulgar things that cannot be named on a forum such as this. Not to be self-righteous, but I did none of these things, like I said before as well. I actually don't suggest you actually search these keywords; It's more just evidence to the whole "quest for wrongful perfection." You cannot tell me all those women found have never had plastic surgery, esp. the living hentai-anime character "Aoki".

I also researched that most Women actually do get several types of surgery to either get a guy, or further please the one they have. I believe more than half of these women, according to the source, were pressed by a male counterpart. As you can guess, this is borderline wrong. I'm afraid that's all I can say about it. It's actually more of a choice on the operatee's part as far as I can see.

And the reason I quoted Kitty_has_claws is because of this last note:
To help everyone from actually searching such things as "gravure" and other such keywords, let me paint a picture mentally. "If a single one of these girl walked into a hospital for a CHECK-UP, the entire emergency room would be cleaned out for her." So while you are correct that is is neither wrong in the case of breast reduction, but also not totally incorrect that breast augmentation or "enhancement" is fundamentally insane, there is only so far one can go in any field of plastic surgery, before they are truely able to be considered an abomination. Oh, and another mental picture: "Hell... if you choose to search anyway and... please whatever-have-yourself." Even if you don't believe in it; I am sure that even if it didn't exist, it would be spontaneously created for your sole containment. That's how much I really don't want anyone actually attempting to research this subject ever again for the purpose of this thread. It's honestly not worth your dignity.

(And if I seem to be only talking to men, I'm not. Seeing these images, even on a search engine, would turn the straightest woman Lesbian, I swear.) For once, I'm not actually kidding around. This is probably my most serious post ever in this area of the forum.

Good point, but in my opinion, it makes you artificial, and also it can chage a person dramatically. Its my opinion. Also Plastic surgery is good in my books if it is for a medical reason.
