"We leave tomorrow. Now if you excuse me, may I speak to Lyra in private?"

 

she nodded and walked away

 

"Why did I get that stupid gene from my father where I like every single female my age?" Mark muttered aloud.

 

"what?"lyra said

 

"Did I just say that out loud?"

 

"yeah...you did..."Lyra said

 

"This is akward.. I get the female-liking gene but not the smooth-talking gene."

 

"Uh....ok..."Lyra said"hey mother! wait! i'll walk you back!"she said

 

"Hey one more thing." He grabs her shoulder. "Don't go into town tonight."

 

"why?"she said

 

"Just don't. Good night." Mark walks into the shade of a tree. "It is too hot at noon. He sits down and falls asleep.

 

lyra followed her mother home,and went up to her room.sitting at the window,in her night gown,and her long hair down her back,she looked at the sea

 

Mark wakes up. He smiles and looks at his compass. It was pointing in the dirction of Lyra's house. "Just wait til I see anthoer girol my age." he told the compass.

 

she sighed,and pulled on a coat,and walked out her house,towards the town,she was bored and wanted to go for a walk...

 

Mark was sword fighting with another crew member. He heard something crack. He saw that his sword had broken. "Well I will be back by tonight." He said.

 

she sighed,looking around the town

 

Mark sees Lyra. He walks up behind her. "Didn't I ask you to stay at your house?"

 

"well..i never was one for listening to others...why shouldnt i come here tonight?"Lyra said"I always come here..."

 

Mark spots a girl their age. "Hey, how old is that girl over there?" he asked pointing.

 

"fifteen why?"lyra said
