Administrators at an Indiana hospital said one of the three numbers listed for the hospital in the latest AT&T phone book connects callers to a phone sex line. Matt French, vice president of business development and marketing at Monroe Hospital in Bloomington, said the 32-bed hospital has received about a dozen calls since the phone book was released last week from residents concerned about the misprinted number, the Bloomington Herald-Times reported Wednesday. "Some say they are surprised," he said. "Others say they want to know how in the world it happened. We'd like to know as well." "We'd like to work with the publisher to see if there's anything that can be done," he said. "But because the books are already out there, I'm not sure what that might be." An AT&T corporate spokesman said he was investigating the origin of the mistaken number, which is the third listed for the hospital in the book.
Oh my. That's a big 'oops'. I kinda feel sorry for the people who call for the hospital and... don't get it. And they can't really fix this, can they? People are going to keep calling the wrong number cause it's in the phone booth.
That's awful. I feel so sorry for the people that actually needed to go to the hospital. I hope they got the phone numbers switched.
Guys, it's pointless to over react. Mistakes happen. The number could have been off by one, and it just happens to be for a phone sex line.
Agreed. But I still do feel bad for the people who called the wrong number. Imagine the shock they got when someone answered.
"Please, call send an ambulance right away! My brothers about to die!" says the man calling the third number. "Would you like for us to send the nurse naked or in uniform sir?"
Truth. It's just unfortunate that the number is for a sex line, but oh wow what a mistake to make xD I feel bad for laughing but it is a little amusing. On the plus side, at least there are another two numbers that people can call if they get the wrong one right? If they make the general public aware of which number is the wrong one then they should be fine.
I laughed as well. D: It is kinda funny, though. At least some folk will get some sort of relief from callin' either number.
Thats hilarious but it is kinda annoying for the people who need the hospital badly. They best switch the numbers of give out a notice to the area about the mix up.
This made me giggle, I have to admit. xD Im sure they can get the news out to enough people for this not to be a problem. Although...Im sure plenty of people were slightly confused when they heard about a stethsoscope going in the wrong places 0:3
That's kind of sad and funny at the same time. Imagine how angry allll those people are that really needed the hospital when they called. They need to double check the books when they're printed.
Yeah, I'm sure this was probably really annoying, but mistakes happen. At least it's fixable. It's just a question of when and how the company plans on doing that. On a side note, people dial wrong numbers all the time anyway. I couldn't tell you how many times I'd get wrong numbers for all sorts of businesses while working at the pool store because someone was one number off. Although maybe I should be ashamed of myself for laughing at this...I just can't imagine someone's reaction when they call for a doctor and the other person on the line responds that they're Dr. Feelgood...
