Persona 5 is aimed at people "bored and discontent with their lives"?

Not much of a sales pitch, considering that's what games were made for in the first place.

well i mean i think he's talking thematically. not just something to pander to those people, but rather a story dealing with that.
i could be totally wrong though i have no idea that's just what i took it as.

Doesn't Persona 3, and 4 also mention some sad people, who inadvertently called for the end of the world?

Yeah, that's what i took it as too. There's an interview about P5 floating around online which elaborates more on the presentation of the themes somewhere, I can probably dig it up in a while.

It was more so Persona 3 since humanity was calling for the ultimate force of death in general, lol. P4 was sort of similar, but Izanami had hypothesized that people wanted to surrender and live in blissful ignorance (which was obv. wrong).

From the interviews, the vibe from P5 was more breaking free from the bounds and apathy of society and the like. "Painting the town red' and all that. It definitely sounds like a take-that at certain sects of apathetic gamers. In fact, I think this was directly implied earlier.

Death Note was the first thing that came to mind when I read that--like, Light Yagami. Hopefully Persona 5 will be just as exciting.

The entire game is going to be the design team showing up one by one telling the player how much they suck.
So the protagonists are going to become serial killers with God complexes? That doesn't seem very persona.
