Websites are created from the internet
Therefore, we are still on the internet

We're using it to communicate, but this isn't the internet. The internet is "a vast computer network linking smaller computer networks worldwide (usually prec. by the). The Internet includes commercial, educational, governmental, and other networks, all of which use the same set of communications protocols" (Dictionary.com).

This is a website, which is "A set of interconnected webpages, usually including a homepage, generally located on the same server, and prepared and maintained as a collection of information by a person, group, or organization" (Dictionary.com).

I'm just doing this for the sake of argument, by the way...

If the internet died or didn't exist, websites wouldn't exist either, websites are from the internet

Yes, but if one's mother died before giving birth, that child wouldn't exist. Does every child=their mother?

No, not enough has been said. I think I'll annoy you a little bit more.

Actually, now that I think about it, websites can exist without the internet. However, without the internet, people other than the creator of the site wouldn't be able to see it. But that still doesn't mean that "this" is the internet. That would be like saying "a telescope allows us to see the stars. Therefore, the stars are a telescope."

Right now we're on the internet, despite this being a website, we're viewing and posting it right now, the creator has a different view on his or her website since he/she created it

So all in all, this is the internet

I'm not denying that we're on the internet. But "we're" does not equal "this," and "on" does not equal "is." The internet isn't a thing, it's a concept. You can't truthfully say "look over there, it's the internet." You can however say "look at this, it's a website being displayed on my monitor," and be correct. This is because a webpage can be viewed. You cannot view the internet, because it is the connection between computers, and does not have a visual manifestation.

Your statement would have been valid if you said:

"It is the internet that allows us to communicate via computer"
    or:
"If you can read this, you are on the internet"
    or even:
"This is not the internet, but a webpage that is being accessed by me through the internet, and I am thankful for its existence. For without the internet, I most likely would never have the chance to interact with the vast majority of the people who also access this website by making use of the internet."

However, your statement contains a logical fallacy induced by unsupported speculation which has been introduced into society as truth, when we supposedly became more comfortable with the internet. People obliviously make assumptions about the nature of the internet, because it would make sense that something so common can be comprehended like common knowledge. This however, is not the case. Reguardless, these pseudo-facts are spread as if they are true, to the point where the majority no longer considers it "slang."

I do not claim to know much about the internet, but I do know that the internet cannot be seen, heard, smelled, tasted, or touched; only accessed.
