I will never understand why people find it funny to turn anime, such as Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh!, into yaoi.

For example, while looking for Joey Wheeler pictures to use for avatars later on, I found one with Joey in a bed with only a shirt on that was pulled up above his nipples with his hand not even in the sleeve on the left side. Either that or it was just a sheet covering the very top of his chest. Anyway, his arms were above his head as if he were tied up, but he wasn't. No private areas showed, but they went as low as possible.

I did save it, though, only because I find it sexy, and ladies dig sexy. When I use it, I'll crop it. Also, if you guys are curious about it, you can contact me on Skype. It wouldn't be appropriate, I don't think, to show it here.

Another one was of Joey and Kaiba looking romantically into each other. That's even worse, but not only because it's anime yaoi, but because that's not even their characters. They despise each other.

Anyway, why do people find it funny to do this?

 

Because folks like you make threads like this about it.

I mean, jeez, the detail you put into describing that picture...

 

Would you rather I have showed it? No private areas showed, like I said, but he was practically naked and it was sexual.

Think of that avatar I had of Yami with the rose in his mouth. It's kind of the same thing, just not as bad as this Joey one I described. I don't even believe it is sexual, but more on the romantic side. And even if it were sexual, at least he's fully clothed.

 

It's not necessarily that they find it funny. Some people legitimately have yaoi headcanons that they love dearly (SoRiku and AkuRoku are two pretty good examples), in anime or any other form of media. They have their tastes, and you have yours. It's best to either change your search terms on Google or scroll down past it before the mental scars set in...

It's not so much their tastes (because you know I have no problems whatsoever with people of different sexualities), but that they're depicting, if that's the correct term, the characters. You know, taking them and making them something they're not. For example, finding an image of Tai and Matt from Digimon "doing it."

As for Google, for this I specifically searched "Yu-Gi-Oh! - Joey Wheeler." As for the mental scars, they don't happen. In fact, long ago I completely disabled content filters on Yahoo! and Google since I am an adult. It's just that, as said in the above paragraph, they make characters something they're not. It has nothing to do with the images my mind can portray.

Anyway, to give you a pseudo-serious answer, people usually don't find it "funny", just like people don't find it "funny" when they write smut. It's just something they do because they can.

 

yaoi is hot and peeps think the same so they draw their otps. it's not a joke, besides, the stuff you saw isn't even that bad lol

it's fine that it makes you uncomfortable and you have a right to complain about it, but everyone is just trying to help you understand / why /, which you don't seem to understand too well...

that's what you should take away from this. they have the power and ability to do it, so they do.

 

It's because people see the potential in that specific relationship (or just wanna see them get at it). To work off the Kaiba/Joey thing, hate romance is pretty popular amongst fans, and in their eyes a Kaiba/Joey "hatemance" is cute.

The potential of any relationship is why people ship things -- people see the bonds between Axel and Roxas, "hey they would be a cute match!" They see how far Sora and Kairi go for each other, "otpoTPOTPOTP".

People ship couples, be they gay, straight, platonic or a giant mass of fictional bodies, because they either see the potential it could have or just really like it. There's really nothing more to it than that, lol.
