Looks more like a fake page saying you have viruses and asking you to download a program full of viruses, so don't download that program.

It was happening to me about 4 months ago, I believe.

My MySpace and Facebook homepage tabs kept redirecting all of the sudden to a "free" AVG scanner, which said my computer was infected with a lot of viruses when it actually wasn't.

dont install it, whatever you do. Believe me when I say it would be a very very bad idea to install that.

It's just as everyone says, it's basically just a virus disguising itself as a protection software. Basically a trojan horse

If by "free" you mean illegal then NO

    This

To be honest the best thing you can do is get a good virus scan despite costs and run a full scan every week.

    A'ight, that's definitely a virus. Sometimes they're a lost cause, other times they're curable.

    Here's what I recommend:

    1. Restart your computer. As it's booting back up, tap the F8 key. It will bring up a list of advanced startup options.
    2. Choose Safe Mode with Networking.
    3. Log into your usual account. Safe mode will look a little wonky (no desktop background, odd resolution, etc.); it's normal.
3.5: At this point, as long as the virus hasn't screwed up your safe mode yet, you can download the virus protection software of your choice and run a scan if you like. I used AVG for a while but got viruses regardless; I have Microsoft Security Essentials now and haven't gotten anything yet.

Otherwise, the instruction below is for a system restore which cured my last computer of these sorts of viruses without anything else a few times. At this point, it may not work for you, but just in case:

    4. Open the Start Menu and search 'System Restore'. Open the program and follow the instructions. If you're lucky, your computer should have a pretty long list of restore points you can choose from; pick one from a time you're sure you did not have the virus yet.
The computer will reboot; once it does, log in and see if you're clear.

That's the best advice I can give to help, I'm not an expert so I'm sure it's not perfect. If you decide to try it though, let us know how it goes x:

System Restore would do it, this will too, and prevent the problem in the future.

    1. Install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
    2. Run a Full Scan with it, it'll probably take a while, but let it go. Have it remove whatever it finds once it's done.
    3. That should get rid of the notifications.
    4. Leave Malwarebytes installed, and run a scan with it every so often.
    5. Install an anti-virus to keep running at all times, and set it on a scan schedule. I'd recommend Microsoft Security Essentials, it's free and works like a charm.
    6. Run a scan using your anti-virus for good measure.

Have you tried system restore? In turning back the computer to before it came? If the antivirus/malware removal isn't working, you will most likely have to format.
