Original article: http://www.salon.com/news/religion/index.html?story=/mwt/feature/2009/11/23/praying_for_obama_death It's times like this when I wish these hateful fucks would just die out already. Discuss.
Hah, what a hypocrite. And this is why, my dear friends, society will never evolve out of these ridiculous beliefs of racism and hate. Not as long as people like Drake and Anderson are around. So much for 'love thy neighbor'.
I agree that it is a very hypocritical statement I mean you and some other people dont like a guy so you pray to God to spite him down and kill him. I mean some people got to accept that the Bible isnt absolute about everything and that they got to learn to accept things in life.
Ohhh...good lord... It's "preachers' like this that makes people hate Christians...First of all, praying for someone's death is NOT okay. The Psalms were put in the Bible to show that even people like David came to God angry at times, not as a prayer guide to smiting your enemies. Thank God there are only a few of these nutcases. I've been at my current church for seven years, and not once have I been told to pray for anyone's death.
Yes, because this guy really know what he's talking about. Alright, I can see this guys reasons for disagreeing with Abortion, but if your gonna throw the blame back that far, just have everyone who voted for Obama shot. It's just as reasonable as praying to an idea to have someobne killed. If your gonna look at it that way, the blood is on the hands of the parents if anyone. Not that that's my personal view, but looking from this guys perspective. Pro-life my arse. You want someone dead. How the **** is that pro-life?
Well if they are only praying I don't see the problem. They may be working the wireless but no-ones listening.
While I see where you're coming from, I'm going to have to disagree with you about it not being a problem. First off, when pastors say **** like this, they invoke (more) hate amoung people who are dumb enough to listen. It'll probably make them feel justified. Second, there's a possibility that this could encourage religious nuts to try and assassinate him, and who knows, one of them could get lucky. They'll likely say it was "God's will".
And then it would highlight the problems that religion can cause. If people are willing to listen to this and think that because the Bible says that it's alright to kill Obama means that they should then there is a much deeper and more serious problem than a couple of pastors. Something that the federal government of America really needs to get to grips with and deal with in whatever way they see fit.
Pretty much what TheVader said I guess interpretation is everything. For one thing, "Read a chapter, not a verse." You can't take something out of context. A sentence is a part of a paragraph. I didn't see that chapter as telling me to pray for my enemies' death so much as their punishment. That doesn't mean I'm going to go kill anyone "In God's name." The Crusades are over. Talk about a poor excuse for a pastor.
I'd like to see him try But yeah, more idiots giving religious people a worse name then they already have. Hope he's excommunicated immediately, if he hasn't already. And for once, I'm on Obama's side. No religious belief justifies killing another human.
^^ That picture is filled with awesome. Don't worry, praying doesn't do anything, Obama will be fine. But that guys needs a life.. majorly..
Also, I have to say that this doesn't do much for the President's. I mean, lets face it, he has a higher chance of being assasinated than a white President would (Although I'm loath to bring it up) , and from what I hear the Health Reform stuff over there is going pretty badly, so this type of crap can make people think it's right to do. The matter of interpretation, like Resin said, is a major factor, and it is the scary thing about it.
I don't get it. Why do so many people hate Obama? He hasn't done anything wrong, and was able to clean the economy after it was turned to ruins.
Another dillusional hateful man who hides behind religion to express his views. Can't he just not involve God?
It's rather pathetic that these pastors are doing such things but it is no surprise. Religious figures have prayed for people's demises and mocked burials of gays, soldiers, and leader figures from around the globe. Somehow they have figured out that it's just a fine innocent thing to make God do their dirty work and encourage happenings of great negativity. There's nothing in the end to do but roll your eyes and say it's another whack religious job. It once again reminds me why I am not religious and feel some sympathy for those who are that have to deal with the facts that some people out there abuse and would waste time praying on such nonsense instead of more positive things. Not that I believe prayer does an ounce of good, but these kinds of behaviors make nutsos that are zealots who will go rise to the occasion to attempt something stupid in the name of God. I do not wish these guys would just 'die' as they wish on another human being, but I do wish they could find something better to do like helping other people instead of harming.
God stated he would never do anything like the flood in that "Noah's Ark" story ever again. I can why God may be tempted right now to do otherwise... In all seriousness, the guy just wants attention, nothing more. He got an article about him, and now he's probaly satisfied with himself.
Well, what else do you expect people to do? Human beings are a shallow, stupid species of which, when experiencing troubled times, must find a scapegoat of which can do no right and everything they do is immediately mocked in some form of internet meme.
It's funny how these preachers think they're doing good...yet, they are just putting an impression on themselves and their religion. I just wish these people could actually follow the Christian way and pray for good things...not death. This guy is rather hypocritical, and shouldn't even call him a Christian, nor Pastor/Preacher. However, this IMO is a fad and fads come and go rapidly. EDIT: I meant these "kinds" of preachers. I am Christian, and I know some really good preachers that have "logical" views, and don't show anything resembling this guy's idiocy.
