Some of these posts were made quite a while ago, before BBS was released. Most of the theories made were ultimately wrong, but they weren't bad ideas when they were made (or at least not as bad as they seem now).

Yeah i think that's correct.Precisely while he was trying to reach the top of castle oblivion. When Naminè was "having fun" with his memories i guess everyone started to forgot all about him.

If they add parents it would mess up the series.

But the parents were already mentioned in KH1. Sure, it was only Sora's mother calling him for dinner, but that establishes their existence. They'll probably stay out of view though, as it's a tad too late into the series to include them at all, unless they want to make Eraqus into Sora's father, or something equally ridiculous.

I think it has somethinbg to do with sora's memory of his mother in kingdom hearts 1.
I can't exactly where it was in the story though seeing as i haven't played it in 3 years but there was a part where sora remembers his mother talking to him about the true meaning of light and how innocent children are.

I think you're remembering Kairi's grandmother telling her that. Sora had the flashback, because he had Kairi's heart at the time.

Also when the island was collapsing Riku said "We may never see our parents again, but we can't let fear stop us" and there is a flashback about Kairi being adopted by the mayor. So there has been mentions of family for all three of them in KH1.

Was that in the Final Mix? I don't remember seeing it. Do we actually see the mayor?

we don't see kairi or the mayor, just sora and riku talking about it in a flashback of sora's.

You see that is the issue. If they were never mentioned then we could pretend that kids grew up on thieir own on destiny islands or something wierd like that. But there are connections to parrents for all three of them (or at least a parental figure in the case of Kairi. But then they promptly ignore that they ever brought it up to begin with.

A good question. And one that doesn't really have an in universe answer. Best I can tell Nomura had the original lines about the parrents to show that the trio had respectable lives on the island and weren't leaving to get away from it but they were leaving to explore and have an adventure. And with them only being 14/15 of course they would have second thoughts about leaving them behind. But then once the story starts going they become a hassle to continue referencing so they just dropped it. Not one of their better moves, you really should choose to include them or not and not do it by convenience.

I still think the pearants weren't mentioned cos they forgot about the children. Remember thanks to Namine even Kairi forgot Sora so maybe the Parants did too.... But that doesn't exsplain everything cos Kairi remembered Riku and thinks he just when away for a year I would of thought his mum or something would make a fuss about him being missing all that time.

Wasn't that because Riku wasn't the target of the memory-wipe by Naminé? She fiddled with Sora, and those related to him, so it follows that memories of Sora would be worse than memories of Riku.

I guess I think thats right, anyway like I said wouldn't Riku's mum want to know where he is since everyone didn't forget him?

Well, Riku had a whole year, and access to a person who can fiddle with memories. We could theorise that Riku did something to appease them off-screen.

that does make sence but it would of been nice for it to be mentioned
