Released October 21, 2011 WARNING: SPOILERS TO PARANOMAL ACTIVITY AND PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 BELLOW!! As stated in the trailer, Paranormal Activity 3 takes place around eighteen years before the events of the first and second movie. It appears to be an old family movie, where you get to see the childhood of Katie and her sister Kristy. As explained in the two previous films, this appears to be at the time where strange things happened, and a dark being entered their lives. The movie this time around is directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, who also directed the independent documentary Catfish. After seeing the trailer, my initial thought was "Thank goodness I was too much as a coward as a kid to play Bloody Mary". To me, the first movie was okay, and the second one was an improvement. Unfortunately, the good stuff in both of the films happened towards and at the very end of the films. Hopefully, they decide to put a little more effort into the scares and make some sense with this interesting series. I'll probably see it, partially because of the trailer, but mostly because of what happened at the end of the second movie.
I enjoyed the first Paranormal Activity, on a level, and I also loved Catfish. I haven't seen number two, but I think I will give number three a try. I think Paranormal Activity will lose its touch for me because my ghost believing friends that I saw the first one with, will no longer think the ghosts in this one are real.
Personally, I don't really like these movies. I was unable to finish Paranormal Activity, just because I thought the movie was simply bad. The issue I have with the movies is primarily the camcorder idea behind it all. The most recent movie I saw in which I enjoyed it was Cloverfield. I know the movies wouldn't have been able to make unless they had the camcorder deal, it is still not to my liking. But hey, people enjoy the movies. I'm guessing if they liked the first two, this one will be exactly the same.
I haven't seen any of these films but I saw this trailer today, it really creeped me out but my friend said that the trailers were really scary and the films were actually more funny than scary. I'm not a huge fan of scary but I might go see this as it looked quite amusing. They don't run on from each other do they? Could you watch 3 without watching the first 2 and still understand?
I would say that you would have to watch the first two to really understand what happens. There's some stuff discussed in both films that is suppose to take place in this one. And plus, the endings are something you'll have to see.
Each film takes place before the previous one. It might make sense if you watch them backwards so watching 3 first doesn't really matter. It's kind like Paranormal Activity 1: Stuff happens Paranormal Activity 2: Explains why stuff happened in Paranormal Activity 1 and Paranormal Acttivity 3: Explains how PA2 had stuff happening.
This Paranormal Activity 3 is a prequel to the first one, isn't it? Forgive me, I've never actually seen any of them.
Kind of. It's like the prequel to both the first and second one. Like I said before, they're moving backwards. The second moved backwards like a year before the first one and played through the first one. The third seems to start at their childhood (the main female characters)
Well, I'm going to go see Paranormal Activity 3 tonight. They offered a twitter/facebook promotional and LA is one of the cities that give free tickets. So, I'll be able to see it tonight and report if it's good or not (but no spoilers beyond what is known in the first two movies).
I don't like seeing a third movie in ANY series. Spider-Man 3 showed me that. But It's kinda interesting how the ghost/demon is Bloody Mary.
i actually missed the Bloody Mary silhouette the first 2 times the commercial came on. when my friends reacted to how creepy that part was i was totally confused XD i never watched any of these movies before but maybe i'll start soon.
Okay guys, I just got back from the movie (with tons of free swag in hand). I'm not going to say much until the movie officially comes to theaters. I will tell you that it is much better than the second movie and that it is worth watching if you are a fan of this series (I say this because my mom went, hasn't seen any of the movies, and didn't like it). There are scares throughout the entire film and the ending....just...wow. It's still just playing through my mind. Oh, and be sure to watch this movie with a crowd of people! You'll thank me later!
This film better freak me out after watching Insidious. Spoiler The first two and Insidious wasn't even scary in my opinion.
Well, since it's Thursday night; so I'll post my review. It contains minor spoilers, although they're found out in the first twenty-thirty minutes of the film. Spoiler I wasn't a big fan of the first two Paranormal Activity films. I liked them, but I really disliked how it felt like they poked butt throughout the movies and a lot of the scares were cheap. Thanks to my sister, I got a free screening on Tuesday. I went in with an open mind; it was like going to a birthday party for a kid you didn't like too much -- as long as there was cake, you would be fine. And, boy was there cake!! First off, half of the scenes in the trailers weren't in the film at all (although I hear that there are multiple endings for this one as well). That being said, the trailer is very misleading, but in the best way possible. It tells the story of why the two sisters are being "haunted" in the first two films. The movie is like walking through a haunted house set up for Halloween -- one of the professional ones that takes months in planning. Scares in this movie were throughout the entire film -- although a lot of them were jump scares (a character jumps out just to scare another character). When the scares dealt with the demon, who in this film is named "Toby", they were pretty creepy and effective. I'm not one who gets scared easily, but this movie made me jump. And the last fifteen minutes of the film were the best fifteen minutes in the entire movie. To sum it all up, Paranormal Activity 3 is the best out of the series thus far. The scares were well planned and it got to you on many levels. Some of the scares seemed very cheap and you may feel lost at times. It is advised to watch the other two movies prior to this, or else you may not understand anything at all. This is also a movie you should see with a crowd; you'll thank me later.
IT's getting good reviews so far. I watched the first one and thought it was fun. Haven't seen the second or 3rd yet.
Thinking about if I should see this or not since I saw the first two, not sure though, thoughy they weren't so good imo.
I'm too much of a wuss to watch these. But, Paranormal Activity 3 does seem very interesting - The thing that hooked me when I first saw the trailer was the dark figure standing in the room after the girls had done Bloody Mary.
