Ouran High School Host Club

The oldest of the twins stood up after watching his mother go upstairs leaving them once again alone. "Well once again I failed. I thought she would understand, but it seems the only thing we can do is admit defeat if we ever want to have our freedom back or run away." Hikaru flatly said stretching both of his arms. "It's a good thing father didn't come or else we would be in serious trouble. My bluff worked in that regard. What do you think we should do Kaoru?" His hand tapped the banister.

"We can't run away. We don't have anywhere else to go without the guards seeing us. It would be embarrasing to ask milord for help or anyone else in that case. Though it would be interesting to see the interior of Haruhi's place." Kaoru starrted to ascend the stairs.

Hikaru placed his finger on his chin and thought about the other option. "Then we have no choice, but to beg for forgiveness. Ready to put on another show?" He smiled mischeviously.

"Yup and you were perfect.. You made that so beliveable as if it was actually true," Kaoru grinned stopping at the step for his brother to catch up.

"You weren't bad yourself, but to bad it was actually true for me anyway." Feeling embarrased and ashamed he put his arm behind his neck.

"Somewhat for me also," Kaoru did the same causing them both to laugh slightly.

"Okay let's just do this." Hikaru carefully opened the door and came in with his brother slowly and cautiously.

Getting on their mother's bed that was in the conjoined bedroom study they laid on their stomachs with their feet both crossed at their ankles and waited a few moments before letting their presence be known with their unison voices. "Mother we were out of line. We're sorry for how we treated you. It was uncalled for and should of never happened." Glancing at one of another they added another intriguing bit to their apology. "Our minds were wrapped around having our newest future family member that's all." They wondered how she would respond to that.

 

Yuzuha sat at her desk with her back to the door. She could hear the twins' murmuring voices,faintly, from her office. When they entered, it was no surprise to her they immediatly tried to act...again. "you two don't have to pretend on my account." she informed them, agrivated that her own sons acted like her underlings from work at times. "but thank you for trying." she turned around, laying her hands in her lap to keep from figiting and showing her unease. "Come on, sit down." she motioned to a small couch near her desk. "Are you ready to talk like a real family?" she asked. As she spoke, the last statement of their unison speaking caught up on and her expression changed to one of confusion. "And would you mind explaining that bit about the family member?"

 

"Yes we're ready to talk." Looking at one of another, they got up from where they were lying and both sat on the couch ready to be lectured. The last bit of information did get her attention so at least she was confused instead of angry with them. "We want you to adopt Haruhi," they both exclaimed. "Did you think we were going to have another brother or a sister?" they both grinned like imps.

Shifting in his seat, Hikaru pulled out his phone and briefly showed his mother the layout of the apartment complex where Haruhi lived. "We've seen where she lives and she has to walk that kind of distance everyday from school. It would be better if she came to stay with us."

"Plus didn't you say you always wanted a daughter mother? This would give you the chance. At least let us have her over here so you can meet her for yourself," Kaoru pointed out.

Thinking like his mother was not hard and it was all part of their plan. "She can model for you mother instead of us because you know how much we dispise wearing femine clothes unless we have no choice in the matter," Hikaru addressed another point to having Haruhi at the residence.

"Maybe you'll get more inspiration from seeing her in your designer outfits," Kaoru softly offered his opinion.

 

In the middle of a math assignment, Haruhi sneezed. "Who's talking about me?" she asked the empty house, sniffing alittle before getting back to work.

"You two may bring over a friend any time you want." Yuzuha said, hiding her exicitment that they actually had a friend the wanted to visit. Even the boys from their club never got mentioned to her unless it was to complain about them. "But no you cannot adopt her..." a small smile graced her lips, showing the twins that she was not as upset anymore. "I assume she has a family?" she nodded to her own question, knowing full well that she would have. "But have her over if you'd like, just call me before hand." She turned alittle to her desk and moved a paper over to check a date. "As for what we were talking about before... Kaoru," she turned to the younger twin slowly so that she was sure who she was talking to and did not set off another argument, "Tell me what is on your mind."

 

"If she didn't have a family could you adopt her?" Hikaru and Kaoru playfully punched each other in the arm pretending they were disappointed that Haruhi wouldn't be living with them when the truth is they the answer that question along. At least their plan to bring a smile to their mother's face had worked and she seemed to be in better spirits which made made them both feel less guilty. "Of course mother. We'll let you know well in advance." Sighing that the tension was gone for now, they relaxed where they were sitting until thier mother addressed the youngest son.

Kaoru returned her gaze with direct eye contact so not to be rude. The subject was upsetting, but it was better to get it out in the open rather than keep it to himself any longer. "For starrters I apologize for being so disrespectful on the phone and also for downstairs. I was merely reacting out of emotion. The truth is I didn't know you wanted a girl and I thought you would be disappointed with having me as the way I am so I thought that was why you gave me my name to make up for that. You knew Hikaru was going to be a boy being the first born able to carry on the name, but as for me..." he paused not knowing what else to say and glanced down at the ground. "I was simply a mistake or an accident from someone whom was destined to come into the world."

Hikaru sat closer to him and made him look up by placing his right hand underneath the chin. "Kaoru don't ever think that. You and I were bound to be as we are, identical twins. It doesn't make me better than you or you better than me. We may be similar in a lot of things, but you and I are still unique individuals not clones of one of another. I'll give you some differences," he used his fingers to explain his examples. "You have more patience than me, you're more open minded, you care more about others feelings than I do where I am blunt and impulsive, you're thoughtful and think things through. In fact you may be the better one of us. I create disasters and trouble where you solve them." Hikaru's expression had changed from being optimistic to one of melancholy."But I guess that's why we're not exactly alike."

OOC: It's going to be a while until I reply. I've got a lot going on. (Not that there's much to do here anyway.) If Tamaki is really needed, someone else can write him; I'm okay with that. =)

 

Yuzuha smiled softly, seeing Hikaru comfort his brother. She put her hands on her knees and took in a slow breath. "Kaoru, being a mother, yes I always wished for a girl... but I also always knew you were going to be a boy. Do you think that with all the technology available I only knew about one of my twins or would take a chance and guess?" she stood up and joined them on the couch, patting his hand when she sat down next to Kaoru. "As soon as I could find out I was pregnant, I had the doctors tell me everything about both of you. Your father and me talked for a very long time about both of your names. You should never think you are any kind of afterthought. If I wanted a girl so badly, I could have adopted or had more kids; but I love my boys and some day I'll, hopefully, have a daughter in law or two. That's by far enough." she took brushed his hair back from him forehead fondly.

Kaoru had a worried look for his brother before he smiled a bit after his mother's touch. He was relieved to hear the truth and that was one less thing he needed to worry about. A mother's unconditional love for her son was like a taking a breath of fresh air. "Thanks mother that's all I needed to hear." Kaoru's arms wrapped around her waist as a sign of gratiude and love before he pulled away only to look upon his older brother seeing that his mood had not changed. "So is father home yet? If he is you two can eat together. Well you can finish your meal anyway."

Hikaru was getting tired of the discussion for he was not one to be babied unlike his brother. The oldest had a reputation to uphold as well as his pride. He had let his wall down earlier with his emotional display and now it was time to bring up his defenses. Abruptly standing and wanting to be away from his mother and brother his patience was wearing thin and he was annoyed once more as one could tell with his body language with his arms crossed tightly against his chest. "I'll let you speak fondly of him alone. Besides we're still grounded so what's the point of looking forward to anything anyway? Glad you feel better brother, but I'm out of here. This doesn't concern me anyway." Before anyone could respond, he closed his eyes for a bit and left the room, slamming the door behind him. Storming outside on one of the balconies, his temper fumed and he stood in silence, his mind elsewhere.

 

Shaking her head, Yuzuha held her younger son for a breif last moment, smiled fondly at him and let go. "Kaoru, I think I should talk with Hikaru for a moment. I'll hand him back over to you in a moment." she knew, now that he had the gender worry out of the way, that Kaoru would understand. Despite his being the younger of the two, he was by far more mature when he wasn't with his brother. She walked out of the room, following Hikaru. "Hikaru..." she announced her presense with his name. "I know you don't want to talk, at the moment, but I need you to tell me what is going on in your mind." she spoke up before he could snap at her. "I only want a moment of your time, then you can go back to your brother and planning whatever it is you two want to do over this break." she waited by the door after closing it behind her.

Kaoru nodded speaking as she walked away. "Okay I understand. And mother good luck. Hikaru is very annoyed and don't take anything personally if he says stuff he shouldn't. He's just upset and confused."

Hikaru turned around and sighed in a exasperated tone like that of an irratated teen only to quickly walk in and flop on one of the couches not caring if he messed up the cushions or pillows with his feet. The last thing on his mind was his manners. He was far to upset to speak with the one whom took away his freedom and was hurt that all his plans would most likely go up in smoke. "What summer plans? I don't have anything planned anymore. I already told you what was on my mind and you grounded me and haven't taken it back." Casting his eyes down on the ground, he pounded his right fist against the sofa. "I can't speak my mind without gettting in trouble so I don't see why you want to talk to me again. It's just a waste of time and it's only going to make matters worse so just let it be. You've ruined any chance of fun that I might have so I have no choice just to accept it since I have no rights here anyway. Knowing you you'll tell father and if I rebel I'm only going to get in more trouble and I may be grounded until I turn 18 or 21," he seized a pillow and began to punch it violently before tossing it carelessly on the ground. Turning his back to her, he lay his head down on another pillow, his body all crunched together in a uncomfortable position.

 

Taking Kaoru's words into account, Yuzuha didn't respond immediatly to Hikaru's words or actions. She stood by the door still, watchiing him and waiting for him to continue. Somehow he's going to talk to me... maybe.

Hikaru turned his head only to see her still standing and he was surprised she had not said a single word. Perhaps she felt guilty or maybe she was waiting for him to finish. Regardless, he faced the couch again, smacking it with his left hand to get his frusteration out. "What? No lecture yet? I'm surprised. Maybe you do understand how I feel or is it just wishful thinking?" Hikaru spread his right hand through his hair, using his fingers like a claw and swiped some of his hair back. "What is it?" He was beginning to become impatient, but was doing his best not to lose his cool again.

 

(OOC: Sorry to say, but I never got it. *shruggs*)

Kaoru could hear Hikaru's voice from down the hall that made him shiver a bit. "Oh boy I hope things are going well. I don't want to think of what is happening if they aren't?" Thinking twice if he should approach the door where he left, he stopped half way center and hugged his sides. Instead of going in, he peaked in for curiousity got the better of him. "Please Hikaru calm down," he uttered to himself. As he watched other visions were going through his head of the whole afternoon at the host club followed by bringing Haruhi home. "What would she think if she saw this? She would want nothing to do with us. Hikaru can be such an inmature brat," he kept his voice low so no one could hear him.

Hikaru brought both of his arms over his head. "This is not happening again. I know the silent treatment when I see it. You want me to calm down. Well it's not working. You are going to tell father. I have no doubt about that," his eyes pierced the window and he stepped back a few steps, his eyes wide with fear. A car had pulled up to the front and out stepped his father in a dignified fashion. "Heaven help me," he gasped and bolted out of the room nearly knocking his brother over. "Kaoru I didn't know you were spying on me." Claws that were still fingers snatched Kaoru's blazer and pulled it towards him. Fury was set in his golden orbs, a glare of pure hatred. "How long have you been there? No don't answer that. I don't want to know. Don't say a word to father cause he's home."

 

"Hikaru let go of him this instant." Yuzuha followed the boy and pulled him bodilly away from his brother. "Now, I am not going to tell your father about your problems. But you are." she looked him dead in the eyes, turning him so he was forced to see her. Her anger matched his, now, but it was colder, cleaner, and less explosive. She was angry that he had threatened his brother and angry that he would not hear her. "And you are going to stop accusing others of this nonsense. I am not your enemy, I am your mother. Remember that." she stood straighter. "Now, do you understand me?" Despite being only slightly taller than her sons, she seemed to tower over the room.

 

Hikaru let go carefully of Kaoru and caught his mother's icy stare then he matched it with his own for a few mintues not blinking once until his eyes began to sting and his upper lip quivered knowing he had lost for the fear was setting in. "I didn't mean to. I..." He dare not say a single word unless he thought it through. He knew he had crossed the line and he hoped Kaoru would forgive him like he always did. "I don't know what came over me." Hiding his face in shame, his hair covered his eyes so not to see the frusterated and teary glare. Clenching his fists, his body shook with fear and fury at what happened. "Fine. I'll tell him, but he's not going to go easy on me. Not after what I did." Coughing a bit, his throat was parched making his eyes wonder around the room instead of starring her straight in the eye.

 

"Maybe if you speak to him like he's another human being and your father, he will. Hikaru, you think the world is against you but it's not. You make yourself against us." Yuzuha replied, forcing him to look her in the eye again. She the turned him by the shoulders and lead him out to the main hall and his father.

OOC: so i'm all for writing their father but does anyone know his name? i've been trying to find it but it eludes me. help??

Following his mother and brother, Kaoru adjusted his collar where Hikaru recently had let go. He had an idea of what his other half was going through, but that still didn't give him the right to invade his personal space. "Hikaru I know you're sorry, but you lost it back there." Reaching his right hand around his neck he rubbed it in a circular motion feeling for any torn tissue. Relieved that there wasn't any, his fingers felt cold like tiny icecles inbedding themselves; he wanted to get even for having experienced that horrific event. Right now was not the time. The fear in his brother's eyes told him that because a maid was conversing with their father for the disturbances to the household in the main hall. Kaoru would cut Hikaru some slack for now. "You overeacted, but you have to learn to have some self control."

Hikaru rose his arms out in front of him, gazing down at his curved fingers and felt like he was walking to his doomsday, his mother acting like a guard. "Yeah I know, but I don't think I can face father right now. Not like this anyway," his fears were soon realized when he heard footsteps echoing through the vast corridors until they abruptly stopped once the whole family reached the main hall. The stern expression from his mother was enough of recieving the same look from his father. "Speak of the devil," Hikaru muttered under his breath. It was time to pay the piper. Swallowing what seemed to be a lump in his parched throat, he placed his arms down by his side and quicked bowed his head showing his respect. "It's not what you think. I could of handled it better, but I didn't and isn't facing you and mother like this punisment enough?" Biting his lower lip gentely and his heart palpitating out of his chest caused him to sweat and stumble back a bit for his instinct was to either fight or flee.

 

Binjiro (whatcha'll think of that name?) swiftly nodded to the maid, who bowed out of the room, before turning to his family. Yuzuha's expression spoke of the problem with the boys and Kaoru following behind told him Hikaru had done something wrong esspically. His expression remained stern and neutral but inside he was exasperated. He'd had a very long day, what had the boys done this time?

Yuzuha held onto Hikaru's shoulders still. She kept silent, wanting Hikaru to take hold of the situation for once.

"And what is it I think, Hikaru?" Binjiro asked after Hikaru spoke. "All I know so far is that there has been a lot of commotion in this house and that your mother looks very upset. Why don't you tell me what's happened so i don't have to guess." Binjiro didn't like punishing or being angry with his sons, so he hoped the twins hadn't done anything seriously wrong.

"You might want to sit down," he gestured for him to sit. "Okay um... you see... it's just... I... did some things that I'm not proud of. I was out of line this evening and it began with mother calling Kaoru and I on the phone wondering where we were because we came home late from school."

"But we were taking a friend of ours, Haruhi home because we felt sorry for long she had to walk to get home. Mother called and asked where we were, I said some things I wasn't proud of. Mother can tell you about that." Kaoru was careful on treading on dangerous waters, but Hikaru needed his help and would be up the creek without a paddle if he didn't intervene.

"So we got home and dinner wasn't on the table and I overreacted at the staff where mother thought it was Kaoru who did. It was mainly my attuide and how rudely spoke to mother that made her upset with the both of us. We brought up the past saying you and mother weren't there for us, made her feel guilty and well I did something else after that. She told me to express myself and I bluntly did where Kaoru and I got grounded for how I responded. Mother said for us to speak to her in her study afterwards."

"Mother wanted to speak to me alone about my my emotional outburst of thinking she didn't want me and then Hikaru overeacted again. I guess he felt left out."

Hikaru starred down at the ground while he spoke. "I did the unthinkable, stormed out and grabbed Kaoru by his collar for I was furious with him cause he was spying on me when mother wanted me to express how I felt. I also grabbed him cause I was scarred of you finding out and that he would tell on me." Starring up he placed his arms behind his back. "Mother reacted and I gave her a cold stare for she was starring back at me until I cracked."

"That's when you came in and well now we have to see what happens next." Kaoru rubbed one of his arms in a nervous fashion.
