I don't think it's our generation, actually. Sure, we're definately going to have some problems, but WE are not responsible for the housing crisis that's going on, as we are NOT in charge of banks and mortgage (...sp?). And people in our generation aren't the only ones in debt.

All these kids? God, how old are you, 40? =\
    GET OFF MY LAWN. D<

What does video games have anything to do with this? I got my first game when I was two (granted, I really didn't know what I was doing), but I'm still a normal person. In fact, a lot of the people I know and are friends with have played video games from a young age, and we have a lot of fun talking about them.
Video games don't make people dumber. People getting obsessed with games and totally disregarding all responsibility does.

To many brats? Not the kid's fault, actually. It's how parents teach children. We're not like machines that are programmed to act a certain way. Just like how we grow up with whatever beliefs we have, behavior is a learned thing.
You get down on your hands and knees for a kid, they walk all over you and become a spoiled brat.

A dumb generation, eh? Well, I'll relay that to my friend, who's currently in the #7 public highschool in America. And would a dumb generation be able to come up with some of the things we have? Should I take pictures of the things I've built and show you how "dumb" people are?
...Then again, maybe there are some dumb people out there. Like yourself. :3

By economic standards, we're probably not going to be in a depression again. A recession, perhaps, but not a full-scale, 1929 depression. America has advanced from 1945, believe it or not.

Of course it ain't the kids fault, its also really bad parenting. First, no, i ain't 40, i'm 15. Second, little kids shouldn't have vid. games due to the fact that 85%-90% grow up to be dumb (I guess u'r in the 10-15% that came out ok).
    Thats my opinion.

Explain why all the people I know have had games since they were very young and they're at the top of their class.

And for the love of God, you're in the debate section; try to use better grammar...
If he says Wikipedia, can we beat him with something?

There's definitely a lot of greed in this generation, but there's also a lot of generosity. The media is always focusing on philanthropists, and this focus makes generosity the status quo.

That sounds rather selfish to say that. Every generation has essentially been the same because after all, it's just a mix of tons of different people with the same personal interests over the course of a short time period.

I don't feel ours is any different than the others. It is only different in the subject that ours has technology that is much more advanced than what previous generations have had. That's it. Otherwise we are no different.

As a result, being so spoiled we have become MORE lazy, greedy, etc., than past generations. It's very myopic to just simply state "our generation is totally selfish and self-propelled."

I believe it is complete unfair and, well, impossible to compare generations and pass judgements on them. We live in completely different times to the previous generations and as a result our society and its structure will be different.

Back in post-war times people may have been less selfish, healthier and more polite/friendly. They had just come out of a war, they had to be these things as they didn't really have a choice. Fighting amongst themselves would do nothing for the war effort. Also, they were healthy because they didn't have TV or computers. All they had was playing sports and going outside. They also had their food rationed so they couldn't overeat.

This argument is like all "What if.........?" questions, they are impossible to work because the situations are completely different.

VERY TRUE. our generation really isn't so different. every generation has mindless killing and the really good ppl. the mindless killing back then would be like the Holocaust but in America, it woudl be those school shootings that keep happening.

There is no generation around that doesn't have its problem people in it. This is why people of other generations can always pick apart one generation and say this and that about it. They look at all the bad people in it and it's a stereotype and prejudice just as saying how do black people act or women etc.

There are faults in each generation and idiots, but we also need to see the good people of each generation too. We can look around us and see in our own generation problem people and we can also see in older generations how screwed up some people are. It pretty much isn't right when people do choose to class others by their generation. Also, people who try to use 'entertainment' changes as reasons why generations differ and are of lesser quality have some issues.

Some faults are caused by the older generations, sure, but each person in the end is responsible for him/her. There is only so much blame that can go on continuously and there is a point where each person should stand up and say he/she is 'that way' because he/she chooses to be so. That's what being an adult is really about. I was abused as a kid. I'm not an abuser as an adult as a result. So, we all in the end have our slackers, thieves, those who are greedy and stomp on others to get what they want, whiners and moaners, etc. We also all have our good people that we can read of in history, see in our family pasts and currently 'we' can make a difference too in not choosing to be rotten. If we have to take the bad of any generation and accept it, it's probably also wise to take the good people too and also the hefty amount of people just trying to get by regardless of how old they are.

i agree that we have good and bad ppl. some ppl raise their kids very well but they still find a way to be screwed up. and some ppl have such a dark past but still turn out very well. tho sometimes i AM disappointed in how some adults have turned out and how they raise their children, that's probably a source of bad people.

well,Repliku says it all, again with a long paragraph, its always so long, but i always read it,because its enlightening

but in my opinion, people are people, just that some are kinder, some are wiser and can see from a better point, and well, some never were shown kindness, but they turn out to be good people and vice-versa,

    my point is

its the circumstances and not the generation itself
