Namine hesitantly took her hands away from her stomach and did as Axel said. "Like this?" she asked.

 

Axel nodded, forgetting everyone around at the while. "Yeah, now make it more controlled, with force, up and down...you have to keep kicking, as that propels you to float. Get it?" He watched satified as she did as told. "Now keep doing that until you feel comfortable, and tried to loosen yourhold on the edge to see how much buoyancy you have, but don't let go. When you want to swim, take your feet of the ground, and from there start. You'll learn how to stroke soon enough, but for now, kick. "

 

Namine did as she was told, but was having some difficulty. She loosened her grip on the edge, but almost slipped and held on again.

 

Axel studied what she did and her almost slip, so he guessed he had to work slower on her. "Now remember, just tell me when you honestly are comfortable, then we can begin to swim a little...don't worry, I'll hold on to you, you'll see."If you want some type of goal to work for and keep you up, try thinking of impressing Roxas."

 

Namine blushed and looked at Axel. "Why do I need to impress him? It's not like I have a crush on him or anything..." at this she just blushed more and tried again. This time when she loosened her grip, she didn't slip.

 

Axel smiled when she got it after awhile, and motioned for her to let go fully and stand up. He smirked at her pathetic attempt at denial, and said, "Suuuure you don't, and that blush is not for him right?" He stared at her amusedly, before he laid his arms in front of him, palm up, and gestured with his head to lay there, front-crawl. All that was is support, the water would take off the weight, so all he had to do is watch her. "When you lay here, just begin to move yoru arms round, I'm sure you've seen people swim, you know how it. For now, just stroke however you feel like."

And then he teach her porper strokes when she gets the hang of it, and can at least keep herself up for a moment.

 

Namine blushed even more. "It's not!" she tried to lie, but sighed when she knew he wouldn't fall for it. "Okay... so maybe I DO have some feeling for him..." she muttered as she layed down on Axel's hands, a little uneasy. She didn't like being off of the ground like this. She tried kicking her legs and tried a pathetic atempt at a stroke she saw on tv, but darastically failed at it.

 

"Don't worry over it, he might like you too. But if this is what I'm seeing, it will be along time before you hook up," Axel remarked absently, paying attention more at what she was doing. Naminé was trying too hard, and she was slightly moving forward due to the propelling, but it was all frenzied. "Relax. Try to work at your own pace, take what I said, let it be controlled. And come on, Nami, you cannot go wrong with a stroke, unless moving your arms around and around is harder than I thought. Just work with what you can, instead of being too much like more expert swimmers."

 

Namine took a deep breath and tried to swim more calmly. She moved her arms slowly, trying to get a different stroke right, and continued to kick her legs. She wasn't flailing anymore, but she could still tell she wasn't doing the stroke right.

 

Axel was getting a bit impatient, but knowing this was going to happen, tried to cool himself down. This took time, and even though he wasn't very good at controlling his temper, he had to deal for her. But unbeknownst to her, she was in fact, doing the stroke perfectly, there's no right or wrong in it, except... "Remember at your own pace, don't just go all out now."

While he was talking to her, he slowly took one inch his hands down from her stomach where he was keeping her afloat, making sure she wasn't aware, and kept her busy. It wasn't that far anyway, it was unoticeable.

 

Namine nodded and tried again to do the stroke, going a bit slower now. As Axel had said, she didn't want to go to far ahead of herself. She was unaware that Axel had lowered his hands from her stomach.

 

Axel didn't want to lower them too far until he was sure she could keep up with herself, and noted how she was doing exceptionally well now. He nodded in triumph. It wasn't a professional stroke, but that will be later when she learned how to keep herself in the surface on her own. After that, maybe the next following days, she could try the deep end, but that depended on her progress, he'll be right next to her in caution. "Good, now try to add the kicks and stroke with a bit more strength and you'll get it. If you need a breath, stop and rest, and the continue. You have to keep practicing. When you feel you know it, tell me."

 

Namine nodded, and she hesitantly put her face in the water. She hated having her face in the water because it freaked her out. She started to freak out before she could even start kicking and stood up coughing.

 

Axel got startled a bit, when she started coughing, and gently placed her down so her feet was balance on the floor as he slapped her back gently and repeatedly, trying to somehow help. He chuckled a little though. "Don't tell me I have to teach you how to breath too like a baby? Want me to make you blow bubbles?" Axel made sure it took on as a joke, before he truly suggested seriosuly, "Do you want to end the lesson here, or you want to continue? Swimming doesn't take a day when learning, for now, you just have to practice the position, kicks, and strokes."

 

Namine stopped coughing and ran her hands through her hair. "I... want to keep going..." she said. "It just startles me when I put my face under water..."

 

Giving her a stare as if to say if she was sure, he laid out his hands again under the water, the action telling all that need to be said. "Go ahead and lay back, and keep doing what I said. From there...we'll see how it goes and if you get the hang out it. And if you're going to try and put your face underwater, hold your breath next time, right?"

 

Namine tried laying down again. "I did hold my breath..." she said. "I just sorta... paniced..." she sighed and blushed from embarrassment. She felt like such an idiot.

 

"There's no reason for you to panic, honestly. I'm holding you, and even then I'm here. You have to trust me..." Axel said this part clear, because that was important between a teacher and the swimming student. Looking down at her, he laughed. "Okay, now do as before...you were doing it perfect, but as mentioned, give more strength... that way you'll get used to the work-out and keep yourself up...by the way, from now until you're done, call me Axel-sensei."

 

Namine smiled and laughed. "Alright, 'Axel-sensei'," she said and tried the stroke again, giving it a bit more force this time. She gently placed her face in the water, holding her breath and trying not to panic. Then she took a quick breath and continued.

 

Axel had watched for over a few minutes, a bit impressed by her stamina and the way she wasn't yet tired, but this makes it all the easier to swim. He had lower his hand a bit more sometimes, watching without her notice as she actually swam for a little while, until she began to go down where he had to hold her up again. But everytime it happened she remained on top longer than before each time, which was good. "Excellent, Naminé, you're a quick learner, just keep concentrating..."

He fully pulled away his arms slowly this time, smiling as he watched her float, though he had too quickly put it back on again as she went forward, great, but the fact that he wasn't holding might startle her. "Are you ready to do it without my help now?"
