When you look at a glass, is it half-full, half-empty or irrelevant?

I myself am a realist. I know some people say thats the same as pessimism, but I think its somewhere between the two.

    What about you guys?

I also view myself as a Realist. If I know something is going to go wrong, there's no point to me in being too down about it and there's no point in trying to say it won't happen as bad as it's going to be. As a realist, I'm still pretty content about life for the most part, but I'd prefer to not look through rosy colored glasses or through stained ones that won't see beyond me. You are right that being a Realist is not the same as being a pessimist, despite some people's views. I know plenty of pessimists and we're quite different in some views, while in others we can feel similar.

I'm a realist, with pessimistic tendencies. I have a relatively realistic look at life/accomplishments/etc. but the more negative possibilities are the ones that sprout in to my mind first.

I think I am a mix of all three to be honest.

I am a pretty positive person about most things, but I am a huge pessimist when it comes to myself.

However regardless of that, I am a realistic person really, I know that sometimes no matter how positive you try to be the situation won't improve and you need to re-assess. On the flip side of that I know being too negative will also add to making things worse.

So yeah, I am a mix of all three, it varies to what is going on at the time.

    Yeah same here.
It is said a optimist is someone who only sees the green light. A pessimist only sees the red light. A wise person is colorblind. The whole world is gray with a small tint of red in my eyes.

I have no idea what I am.

I'm what the call what people call the Devil's Advocate at times. xD It's fun...>>

But most of the time I see things pretty negatively. :/

I look at the glass, and refuse to even contemplate the question, because if someone else is asking the question, then they obviously control the glass, and I have no authority over whether they fill it (make things better) or empty it (make things worse), and I have no blame for it's present state.

If someone can make sense out of that, could you please translate it for me? I have no idea what I mean :D

I'm a realist. Yeah...things suck...but I try to make them better. I can't really add much to that. I just see things for how they are and it isn't always pretty.

I'm a realist, I see life as it is and I tend not to sugar-coat it. I dunno I guess sometimes it is pessimistic to some people who consider themselves idealists, but it's just the truth I'm telling them. Other times depending on the situation it can be considered optimism because not all aspects of life are suckish and difficult. It depends on the situation I find myself in really, but I have a tendency to try to improve things and make situations better because life's already hard, we don't need people or trivial things making it more difficult.

I would categorize myself as a realist leaning on optimism. I definitely have a rather pragmatic view of things, but I try to stay positive about most situations because I don't see the point of stressing myself out and bringing everything down. My dad is a complete pessimist and he's just depressing. :/

I literally have no idea what I am. I'm beginning to see so many things negatively. I used to be so positive on many things but somehow, everything started changing.

Inside I'm a realist but I try to act optimistic outwards. Sometimes those roles reverse too, depending on the situation. Like if in a serious situation, I try to be optimistic inside in order to keep myself stable. But I act realistic to satisfy those around me. Well, it's something like that...

    I'm Pessimistic

No matter if it turns out okay

At school, even if I do okay, I keep feeling I failed (though I don't)

I'm scared that my laptop will never live again

And everytime something bad happens to me, I feel like it's the end of the world

Does it matter? We're all ****ed anyway...

As you can see, pessimist... But really, that's how I see everyone's eventual outcome... ****ed... Badly...

I believe it depends on the kind of mood I am in. Majority of the time I tend to be an optimist for life is grander that way and I feel better about myself. Sometimes I tend to be a pessimist from reliving so many issues that concern my future and assuming they will never go away. I'm a realist knowing I can't be in denial and I have to accept what is going to happen and there is nothing I can do to change it. So overall living all three at once, but more towards the optimistic side.
