OOC: |Marvel| Limitless X-Men

I think godmod is used for things like avoiding every attack and landing every blow or using things you know for your character even though they wouldn't know (but that part is usually called metagaming) and powerplay is controlling other people's characters... I've heard godmod being used for that to so maybe godmod is more of a general term for these things and metagaming and powerplay are like sub categories.

 

I always thought it was the other way round, godmodding is controlling other people's characters and powerplaying is being too powerful - not making them get hit by a single attack and always having a stronger attack to return.

 

YEAH THAT ^ That's what I've always been thinking. Godmod is definitely controlling other people's characters, though, hence the 'god' part.
Well then, this got a bit off track.

My fault. I definitely could have worded that better. The only way that I'll allow more actual X-Men is as mentors, but that's only if we have enough characters that another mentor is needed, which isn't the case. However, throughout the RP, I may need other actual X-Men and at that point, they'll be claimable, except for the select few.

Honestly? I've seen them used both ways so I never bothered to figure out which actually means what, since people tend to use them differently. So I simply just always mention them together lol.

 

It's all good. I'll definitely keep posted for those two when the circumstance arises, or maybe even Gambit, but if it's at all possible in the future though, I'd still like to do mentoring if it comes up/squads get too big.

Anyhow, I made up my mind and decided I really want to do this as a student, regardless if I ever play as a canon member of the Uncanny X-Men.:

Give me a week or two; I’ll draw it. But in description, he is average height, with long limbs, but an exceptionally lean muscular build. He wears dark suits with white dress shirts and gray sneakers, in a comparatively devil-may-care and scruffy manner, forgoing the tie and letting his collar do what it will. He always has a rather tweaked look about him, with his face gaunt, his eyes tired, and purple circles always underneath his hazel eyes. He slicks his black hair to his left side in a swoop, sloppily formal style.
Other Appearance: This is a big maybe if I draw it. But as of yet, he doesn't actually have one anyway.

He’s crazy smart, which makes him very hard to understand by the general populace, and especially by the more thuggish of the Brotherhood. He is prone to moral dilemmas, wanting occasionally to do what is right, but pushed to do what is desired of him or more feasible. All this consternation invariably leads him to being a much distanced arsehole with a screwed up Hero Complex. His habits include writing, staying to himself, practicing his powers in solitude, working out, Wing Chun, and watching movies at the Cinema.

He’s pretty sure he must have been a nice guy once; he looks like a nice guy on a constant tweak that he doesn't fuel with any actual drugs. The only problem is… he can’t quite remember…
What he does know is that his name is in face Jon Jacobs, and that he is absolutely and totally alone. What he doesn't know is that at one time he was a nice guy. Apple of his parents’ eyes, and every teacher’s favorite student; too bad he was also every peer’s favorite punching bag. It was because of constant teasing and a need to banish his lank and weak form; he started working out his freshman year of High School. That was somewhere else, and an entirely different life. He woke up surrounded by mutant thugs one morning, and in fact very recently, so all he wants to do is glue the pieces back together. Of course, it was the Brotherhood who “rescued” him from the thugs; why else would he join them?

Shape-shifting

• He can effectively switch species, physical age/weight/height/build, races, and genders, but the further he gets from his original DNA, the harder it is for him to control. Ergo, it’s easier to disguise himself as an older version of him and in any race, than disguise himself as a female, and it’s in turn easier to disguise himself as a female as it is to disguise himself as an animal. At the starting rate, he can only hold an animal for half an hour,
• Eventually learns he can reshape his vocal chords to be customized to whatever he wants for a voice.
• At the first stage, he has to touch his subject in order to imitate their looks; Step 2, he can change his appearance at whim; 3, the time he can stay in disguise lengthens to almost indefiniteness for human subjects; 4, finds out about the vocal cord bit.
• Unlike Mystique, he cannot conjure clothes to fit the disguise; these he must provide himself.

• Just because he can change his species, does not mean I wish to make him another Beast Boy sort of character. In fact, the animal bit will probably be used very sparingly. If it is so wished, I will abandon the option to change species entirely, and dim it down to making some of him able to change species for a short time. We aren't talking Mystique quality performance right away either. It’s a learning process.
• Also, he speaks with a British Sophistication, but he doesn't really think he’s British. It’s merely the fact he is clear about his pronunciations and is often verbose.

Go ahead and taunt him anyway though; I’d love the comic relief and character development in getting him ticked.

Also, just because he can disguise himself as a woman, this does not make him Homosexual nor Bisexual. Changing into a girl makes him uncomfortable.

And, kindly, please take note his first name is "Jon" as in "Jonathan" and not "John".

 

Generally, it's both mix and match. It doesn't matter what either means though really.
Just because 'one' is stated in the rules... To be frank, it's better to just avoid both Godmodding and Powerplaying in general. So the meaning persay (or which one has which) doesn't matter XD. Just as long as you don't do either of the things.

Personality: When another side is created they manifest from a certain emotion, drawing it away from Catherine. Only trace amounts are left at first but even they can fade with time. This means it is near impossible for her to feel despair, guilt, love, and anger. And while happiness is still possible she tends to avoid feeling it for real despite the joyous act she puts on while being prone to violence. Fey is all about agony and Ishtar is focused on love, though a twisted sense of it, and is rather motherly towards Catherine.
Biography: Catherine subjected herself to being an outcast from the ages six through ten, finding the lonely aspect of it pleasing. However it worried her parents who thought she was being bullied thus they moved. After the move they pushed her into being more social and signed her up for several after school activities, having most dropped and replaced by another about a few months later. The cycle broke after she fell for someone in one of those clubs during high school but around the same time her powers were beginning to form. By the time she realized she had them they were already dating, leaving her to wonder if he even wanted to be in a relationship with her or not. Unable to stand doubting his love for her for long she broke it off, Ishtar being born soon after. Then each time they spoke or bump into each other her pain became his though intensified. That led to his failed suicide attempt which made Catherine trick her parents into agreeing to move again. But even after going away the guilt remained until Fey was created. Without love or remorse for anything dark times began. During that time she was found by Brotherhood and joined their ranks.
Powers:

xxxWhen one personality is in control they do not have access to the other personalities' powers. Catherine is the first and main personality and thus her abilities are not centered around a particular emotion though they are still emotion based. They are...

• Emotion Manipulation: The ability to control someone's emotions, though will not work on people with apathy or strong psychic powers. There also has to be some trace of the emotion she wishes to control, ie. if she wants someone to feel love it has to be there but she can target their love at anyone even if that love wasn't originally for the target. It works on only one person at a time and is limited to how long she can use it (though when used on someone enough times the effects will last longer and longer and the target can be more vulnerable to it). The side effects can be headaches for prolonged use and when used on another she may feel the same things she is making them feel. And when she uses on herself once the effects wear off every emotion comes flooding in.
• Empathic Creation: The ability to create things out of emotions and thought, each emotion having a limit of what they can create with their ups and downs. The power is meant to be able to create armour, weapons, and even regrow limbs but for Catherine it has only been used to create her other selves unknowingly as she does not even know she has this ability and thus has no control over it. If a case of her learning or being told of it comes up Ishtar tends to take control as she thinks Catherine is not yet ready to control it and doesn't want her vessel to destroy itself.

xxxUnlike Catherine her other selves specializes in select emotions so they have less limits when it comes to them but they cannot do anything with other emotions as they can't even feel them. And out of the three Fey seems the least aware of the other two but it is hard to tell as she is a guilt and despair embodiment so it's possible she simply does not care about Catherine and Ishtar. It could also be that, as the youngest side, she has not found ways to contact the other two as her sense of self and abilities are still forming.

• Negative Emotion Empowerment: Becomes stronger, faster, more durable, etc through negative emotions, regardless at who they are for, possibly unlocking abilities related to the affinity and enhancing the existing powers. Works best with guilt, despair, and relating emotions while everything else hardly makes a difference. Also helps Fey to ignore pain easier, even to the point of walking on a broken leg or moving after being shot if there's enough of it around. Though even with it being allowed to do those things only lasts for so long.
• Guilt and Despair Inducement: Unlike Catherine the emotion does not need to already exist to be preyed upon by Fey. However, as she is still new it is hard for her to create the emotions out of nothing and so she is forced to use existing guilt and sadness, though just a small amount can be turned into something great (example; littering can be made to look like the greatest sin in someone's eyes if they felt even slightly sorry for it). There's still that one person at a time limit but less constraint on time, though it starts out small and takes a while to build up. Only through prolonged exposure to it can it do any harm but after a while one can be driven to a deep depression and/or guilt that lasts even after Fey leaves. Still, if someone has apathy or a strong mental shield this will not work on them.

xxxIshtar is the most confident, dominating, and strongest of the three though rarely comes out even if called upon. And unlike Fey her specialties do not match perfectly as she is empowered by and controls both love and anger. She can also work through mental walls and apathy better than her counterparts but if someone is stronger than her than naturally it would still not work.

• Anger Inducement: Without a block Ishtar can make even the nicest person have a fit of rage, though someone like that could control it enough not to hurt people they know and/or care for. Everyone else will be in danger of hurting everyone around them. And while it's possible for that anger to be channeled at her it is normally used with her powers of love which will make them focus on others more. This feels useless to her as she can get people to fight for her without this power so only uses it if it needed or if it could be used as a means of entertainment (example being if decreasing someone's love for someone isn't enough to really hurt them she can make the lover turn violent towards them instead).
• Love Manipulation: Has the power to manipulate all aspects of the love in people, increasing, decreasing or chancing it as they wish, manifesting the emotional energy to physical level, etc. May be used as little to help gain someone's trust or as much as make someone completely and utter in-love with her or someone else. Also used for others to see her as what they find attractive (if they are attracted to women) instead of seeing the red eyes and cracks. Though, despite being able to decrease someone's love she cannot turn it into hate which it is the thing that can cancel out her powers. Someone has to have abilities involving hate or be very hateful to be immune to it though as well as repel her, making her unable to even touch them unless their guard is lowered which will allow her to start using her power on them but unless it has a strong effect she still won't be able to touch them.

Sebax and Nilin, you're both in! I'll aim for starting as soon as DarkTraitor gets a character in. Definitely by the end of the week. Definitely excited for Fey and Ishtar for secret reasons.

 

Now my ideas for Feral have sort of been offput by somebody else making their character have similar powers to him, so that's irritating. Ah well. I'm going to think a little more. Will definitely be joining, even if I end up slightly late.
Also would like to reprise my role as Deadpool if possible, whether as the leader of the Brotherhood group or not.

Biography: Unlike most people who discover their power by accident, Zane had his forcibly revealed. Due to being put through multiply experiment in order to draw out his powers, Zane develop personality change to play with people and not in the good way. Most times they would be harmless, but there was the one occasion were it was view as going to far and led to him getting into some sort of trouble.

• Illusions - As the name implies, Zane is able to make copies of either himself or anything he choses. They can be separated into two groups, Solid and Trick. Solid Illusion can deal physical damage while Trick are just used to distract or fool a person. Both however can be removed by a hitting them.

Other: The biggest thing he can make at best is a tree.

 

master of keyblades, you're in (again). Dark, would you prefer to go ahead and start as Deadpool and introduce a character later or wait until you have a character? If you have any ideas for a character, I don't mind waiting a little while longer.

 

I had filled in a character sheet that I was happy with, as Bushy will confirm, but then my browser closed on me without warning and I lost it all. Still sort of mourning it. Feel free to start whenever, I'll see about sorting a redone sheet in the next couple of days.

 

I'd rather wait until you're done so a character isn't randomly thrown in, but now that I think about it, that happens quite a bit in RPs lol. So, the starting date for this RP will be Friday, 6:30pm EST~

 

So, does this mean we can start now? I ask because I am uncertain if you mean for us or yourself to start first.
