How is "All Old People Shouldn't Be Driving" any different from "Old People Shouldn't Be Driving"? The fact is that you decided to put in the title and original post something that pertained to age being a reason that someone is bad at driving, when as you can see here:

that, in fact, old people should be driving as much as anyone else.

    At the least, this statement:

    holds no particular prejudice.

Then start off with that first instead of this thread's title and original post.

I don't like cars in general. I blame too much crime/investigative TV and an irrational fear of car bombs. Seriously, if a character in a detective show dies, there's a very high chance it was in a car bomb. That's why I walk everywhere, or ride a bike. You ever hear of a bicycle bomb? I'm just sayin'.

Agreed. Who wants to go 60 miles an hour in a two ton hunk of metal that is powered by explosions and surrounded by dozens of other two ton hunks of metal that are also powered by explosions? That shit's dangerous. Bicycle master race FTW.

I would rather drive 20 miles to school and be there in 25 minutes, than bicycle 20 miles to school and be there in three hours.

Both my parents are opticians. You have no idea how many old people out there keep driving despite them being nearly blind. One of their clients is literally blind from an eye and the other is 3/10 (and that' s with his glasses), yet he still drives.

Cops, I have a special newsflash for you : driving with a huge visual impairment is just as dangerous as driving drunk or high, if not worse. Yet you never think of checking that out now do you ?

I wouldn' t prevent old people to drive, but I certainly wouldn' t mind having their driving capability checked every ten years.

What I was going to say in a nutshell. When you reach high ages there are serious concerns to be had because of body degradation. On top of vision issues stated above there are brain issues. It varies wildly in form and severity but it is a good bet that the quickfire decisions of driving will be in some way impaired.

Now if you can see, hear, react, etc. properly than no, you shouldn't be disallowed from driving for being too old. Especially considering the car dependent society we live in.

I myself avoid driving as much as I can because I have a lazy eye and some executive functioning issues (particularly in regards to processing time). But it is excessively hard to not drive without just becoming a hermit.

Nobody should drive at all. Things were perfectly fine when we rode horses. Like sure some people died from Mongolians but just think about how many car crashes there are though.

That's understandable, but driving for stuff like going to get ice cream when the UDF is, without exaggeration, right around the corner or picking up groceries on a non-pay week is just ridiculous if you ask me.

Honestly, that should happen for everyone at least every five years.

Also, what' s up with that space after every apostrophe? I' m not trying to correct you, I' m just genuinely curious.

You' re not the only one, it' s the third time I' m asked here. ^^''
Just a bad habit. It took me years to realize it was "wrong", When I write no one notice it anyway, I don' t bother correcting myself unless I' m typing something official.

The more I walk, the more play coins I get on my 3DS.

..Course, I could die in this weather.

    Decisions... Decisions...
