I do admit I'm not as wild about this game as I am about SoulCalibur, just because I think I like the whole 3D thing better. I like being able to move around to dodge attacks and so on. I'm also finding it really hard to grow accustomed to how slowly the characters move towards one another in MvC, but I also need to learn long range attacks so.

I also find guarding extremely difficult?

Also, will add you guys next time I use my PS3 <3

I have it on Xbox, so indeed. It seems incredibly dead, even though it's a great multipalyer.
I think First Person Shooters have contaminated the whole of online mulitplayer, and people just play them.

They have, even i'm subject to them, just really the thing to play, other MP's are a distraction from FPS', but the road always leads back to it.

I too usually prefer the 3D fighters, but I just love Marvel VS Capcom. So fun and, in my opinion, a lot easier to pick up than other fighters because of how simple the control system is. Also, just double-tap the direction multiple times? I think that's how its done (don't own the game yet)

Hold back. The staple of 2D fighting games since like Street Fighter.

Perhaps you should switch to a more quicker character or a character who can cover space fast
Rocket Raccoon and Vergil come to mind.

Keep in mind there are two kinds of blocking
    low blocking and high blocking.
Most attacks can be blocked low(down+black on D-pad)
Air attacks and certain moves(overheads) must be blocked high(just hold back)

Nope. MvC3 only works with MvC3. Ultimate MvC3 only works with Ultimate MvC3. Don't think PS3 and Vita will work with each other.

    Nope
Marvel VS Capcom and Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom are two completely different games with different mechanics. There's no way they would be able to cross platform

I meant as far as systems go. Could, for example, Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom on the Vita work with multiplayer for Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom on the PS3? Or is that what you meant by cross platform?

    I'm honestly not too sure
    I don't think it's been confirmed

mistypants...sounds like an incident attributed to a weak bladder...

Fighting games are far superior with a PlayStation controller compared to an Xbox one. I know this from going from Soulcalibur IV on the Xbox to Soulcalibur V on the PS3. Personally don't care for fight sticks cause I don't own one nor did I ever learn to use one well.
