Post your computer builds here, be they laptops, desktops or some other ungodly contraption. Let's get an idea of what we use, and give advice to buyers.

I'm currently using this, but due to becoming painfully outdated, I'm looking at upgrading to a different build. Thoughts?

I honestly have no idea what my computer is. It is quite literaly whatever computer parts we had lying around the back room when my old one died D: All I know for sure is I have a drive for CD's, a drive for DVD's, and a drive for storage. And a slot for a floppy disk *cringe*. That, and I run on XP professional. if you run on anything that is not XP, you are more advanced than me XD

Oooh, I get the chance to show off my computer-to-be.

First off, Currently I own 2 Laptops and one Non-functional Desktop. None of these are worth mentioning, except my 8GB DDR3 Ram and 750GB HDD with 6-8h battery time. (My current Dell computer)

Let's start with motherboard, shall we? [These are all links, if you want to check them out.]

All these are planned and are subject to change.
My motherboard will be the ASUS Sabertooth X58 LGA 1366 Intel X58

    Powersupply: CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V v2.2 SLI

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W or the Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W

RAM: Will try to max it out to 24 using these G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 and another one which I’m not certain of yet.

HDD: Either a couple of these Western Digital RE4 WD5003ABYX 500GB 7200 RPM with external HDDs or a couple of these Western Digital Caviar Green WD10EARS 1TB 5400 RPM

Graphics: EVGA 01G-P3-1561-AR GeForce GTX 560 Ti FPB (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 or EVGA 012-P3-1570-AR GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 (These will probably change, as it is a while until I get to building it.

Case: Right now it’s between Logisys Pre-Assembled Clear Acrylic Case with 3 Blue LED Fans, NZXT Crafted Series Phantom case – White or NZXT Crafted Series Phantom Case – Black.

I need some more stuff, of course, but I’m not sure what I want just yet.

If I go with all the most expensive parts, It ill be a total of $1639.86, which I probably won't hit.

I've spec'd out several builds but I lack the money to take them on. D: I had a good budget one going for like $800, I think. Right now I'm running a pretty basic HP I picked up (quad core @ 2.8 GHz, 4GB RAM, 750 GB hard drive, onboard graphics), but I'd like to start upgrading it now that I've got a job and all. First step is a new PSU, since iirc this one is pretty weak, then a new graphics card.

I'm jelly of your guys's machines, haha.

I've built a few in school but the parts were all picked out already for us, haha.

    My current specs.

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
    Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X2 555 Processor 3.20GHz
    Processor Core: Dual-Core
    RAM: 4GB
    Hard Drive 1TB

Surprisingly I have almost the same set up as RvR apart from his 'better' parts. : P

I'm not thinking about upgrading really, I get everything I want at a generally smooth and quick pace.
Except Crysis, that game will never work smoothly for me on High settings.
