http://www.gamefreaks.co.nz/2012/09/20/okami-hd-tokyo-game-show-trailer/ Waaaaaant. It's sad that the highlights of my gaming life now are replaying the great games of previous generations.
I seriously just think it's because we were younger. Super Mario Galaxy II and Fallout III were the only games of this generation that felt magical to me, and when I was a kid, everything was awesome. Hell, even those Lord of The Rings movie games were fun, and now I don't even like beat 'em ups.
Feel like this could have just been posted in the other Okami HD thread, but whatev. I can honestly say that age isn't a factor for me when it comes to quality. A majority of modern mainstream games just don't feel like they developers put as much love into them really, but there are still a lot that do. But the vast majority of games being advertised so much are like "beat the campaign in like 3 hours, then don't ever touch the game except for online play and buy all our DLC!" Fallout 3 and Okami are two games from seperate generations that thankfully avoid this. And I do share the feeling of sadness that so many of the games I've looked forward to playing this generation were remakes or HD collections (Silent Hill, ICO & Shadow of the Colossus, Okami, God of War, Kingdom Hearts, etc.)
I was never a picky gamer, if anything my taste has become more refined as I've gotten older, but I'm still open to a lot of things game companies put out there. A lot of games I played when I was younger I couldn't really beat nor could I really understand symbolism as well as I do now so that sort of hidden meaning gets lost with a young age. I see everyone's point that a lot of games that are coming out are HD remakes/re-releases to get excited about and granted I am super excited for them but I think this generation has put out a lot of great IP's (if you look past the generic FPS games - although I still do have fun with those when playing with friends). Plus the graphics are much prettier. But anyways, I've never played Okami but I think since it's going to be re-released as an HD I might pick it up once I learn more about it. I've been meaning to buy myself some new games anyways so I might put this one on my list.
Okami is a really good game, the combat is really fluent, the art style is beeeeautiful, the music is fantastic and the environment to explore is really vast, there's lots to do in the game to keep you occupied and it's a fairly long game 20+ hours easily. I recommend it highly.
I was planning on getting this as soon as it went up on the store till I noticed when it was coming. So many big games coming out around that time. >_<
