OK! who here hates crappy anime dubbing?!?

People complain about dubs because they sound different to the orignal they saw. Like for instance I saw Bleach in the dub first and enjoyed it. But others would hate it because they are used to the japanese voices, even though nothing is left out.

But some dubs are just terrible, like 4kids doing One Piece.

 

I actually like the dubbed Ichigo's voice. He does a pretty good job.

Off-topic: ...or maybe because I like his work because he is the VA of Nero for DMC 4

Yeah, that one scene where they point fingers at Kaiba in Yu-Gi-Oh! was obviously changed. Kaiba actually gets shot but it hits his briefcase instead.

 

*nods* People are too picky. English VA cannot sound exactly like the Japanese VA. Give them a break! >_>

Sometimes I even prefer the dub than the original. Fruits Basket for example.

 

Bad dubs are unavoidable. There are so many companies that, like the Japaneses companies, don't give a rats ***. They do not CARE if the dialog is the same, if the voices match, or if they capture the character. BUT there are some...like Funimation, that really does but a lot of effort into the animes they dish out. Unlike Viz ::cringe:: who really don't know what the hell they're doing. Yeah...they need to stick to manga.
Solution to bad dubs: Watch them in Japanese! But do remember, if it's a good anime...buy the dvd. Support the release. Get it and watch it subbed.

 

i dont hate it... i just dont watch it... some anime series is better with Eng dub i think! like Neon Genesis Evangelion & FMA!

 

Agreed. I really liked the Neon Genesis Evangelion dubbed VA.

Nah, Sailor Moon could have been worse, it could have been dubbed by 4kids(shudders). 4kids makes anime looks so terrible I began to lose my faith in the original Japanese version. The voice actors sound all out of character and what the heck is up with One Piece? Sanji sounds like friggin trailor trash! and he has a lolly-pop.

But yeah, the Sailor Moon dub sucks! But it could have been so much worse!

Okay this is the simple truth people 4 kids dubbing sucks so badly its not even funny if you see the way they subbed one piece youd wish yu never saw it and thats the simple truth guys...nuff said

 

I totally agree. That is what I do with anime. Like She, The Ultimate Weapon. The English VA is decent but a bit dull, which is not good for that sort of anime. So I chose the japanese option with subtitles.

 

Yeah, Funimation is the ONLY good dubbers. They actually make the voices and scripts sound cool. They did a pretty good job on Yu Yu Hakusho and Spiral. Thank God, there is some hope for anime in America. Animes on Adult Swim are not bad either.

 

I never really liked Sailor Moon, and some dubs are sorta better. for example. In Naruto, Zabusa sounded like he smoked 10 packs a day in japanese. In the english, he sounded about the age he was given and.....just...better. However, that motha******* naruto's beleive it $#!* is reallly annoying. I wouldn't like pokemon even if it was in japanese, no offense to anyone who watches pokemon.

 

SAILOR MOON IS THE WORST ON DUBBING!!!!!!!AND TOKYO MEW MEW!!!!!
THEY CHANGE HER NAME TO ZOEY!!!!!!it breaks the name chain cause everyone was named a food and Ichigo means STRAWBERRY in JAP.

it pisses me off that they skip ALOT of episodes in DUBB

Yeah I agree 4 kids is bad. I cant stand it. >_< And I hate anime dubbing too.

 

Dubbing honestly doesn't bother me. The reason is, I can't stand watching anything in a different language. Seriously, screw watching something that I can't understand, and have to read subtitles so that I can understand what the hell is going on. >.>
