I actually think them doing this is quite clever! Obviously it would be pricey for them to fill their displays with actual game boxart (and distracting, since you're supposed to be looking at the furniture), but it's also silly to not include clutter in their models, so they go for these -- they call to actual games but simplify their art so as not to distract. Their books are quite interesting too, they're often Swedish cookbooks. The one by me also fills their closets with clothes from H&M, probably because there's one right next door to it.
I for one wouldn't mind playing 'Grandma's Auto'. Mostly because I'm picturing this little old lady that really shouldn't be driving but no punk kid's going to be telling her what to do.
