You just can't do anything right, can you?
Basically, they have a new youtube policy, called the Youtube Affiliates program. This allows people to make videos about Nintendo and make money off them... in return for giving Nintendo half your ad revenue.
I can't help but wonder how quickly my mom's old daycare would have gone out of business if each of the children's books she read were entitled to half her revenue.
This also just pisses me off because it's already so hard for youtubers to make a living off ad revenue. I know a lot of YTer personally who cover tonnes of Nintendo stuff, and this just screws them over that slight extra bit more :/

Simple solution is to stop covering bad games.

Well, before I believe you weren't allowed to have Nintendo videos at all. It sucks, but better than nothing I guess?

Before Nintendo took all the money... so a lot of YTers stopped covering Nintendo. Now Nintendo is trying to win them back... by only taking HALF their money >.>

    This is true.

And now I am happy that I don't have any Nintendo videos.

Actually, it's worse, because now people have the option to waste their time on videos they'd be making at a net loss of profit. Ad revenue is minuscule to begin with so halfing it suddenly makes the videos not worth making at all even if you want to unless you're already making tons and tons of money like that damned Swede. Basically, every other publisher does what Nintendon't.

    Fight for concept of ownership.

I paid for your product. I own it. I am not subscribing to a service nor am I reselling your product. I am advertising it along with myself and what I like

    Youtube doesn't care
It's a guilty until proven innocent type deal, and robots decide if you're innocent

I have been pushing for a YT mass exodus for this one community on YT and no one seems to be taking to it. I thought when the main channel got a copyright strike recently I would bring it back up, the entire community hinges on this channel after all, but still no. YT seems to be too big and well known to simply pack everything up and go somewhere else. The only reason I still use it today is because of my subs and I cannot be the only person like this, so fingers crossed that one day all of these people can go somewhere else with their fanbases still somewhat in tact. Of course there are many problems with this, money's a factor after all and you gotta make it somehow, but If there ever comes a time or place where people can continue doing what they do without YT's bullshit you can bet I'll be one of the first outta there. i just hate seeing these longstanding communities and personalities being put in jeopardy for no real reason

There can't be an exodus because for all intents and purposes Youtube has a monopoly. You can't go anywhere else and get even a fraction of the audience or ad revenue you can get from being on Youtube. It's too big, and nothing can really compete with what it offers, so Google is basically free to screw over whoever their massive captive audience

I know. Like I said, money's a factor and as horrible as YT is people depend on it for money.
but its fun to dream, right?

Yeah but that doesn't stop if we keep buying in to their bullshit. I'm just glad people are starting to use Patreon in lieu of Youtube's bogus ad system; that way they can "make money" off of videos without monetizing them.

Youtube actually announced they've got plans to put a stop to that :/
or as they put it "bring monetization onto a unified platform"
