I thought Loki was just misunderstood. Sort of like Pitch in 'Rise of the Guardians'.

No, pretty sure it was excelled.

Going off on this: the Transformers trilogy was terrible as films, but if you managed to turn off your brain completely (note: this is NOT A GOOD THING when you're making a film), they're good. Kinda like cakes with amazing icing but filled with sawdust.

Pitch and Loki are both really cool. Sure, you could say misunderstood, but I tend to avoid using that terminology.

I'm sorry, but no matter how much I try to turn my brain off those movies are still glaringly terrible. Everything about the first one screams gratuitous (masturbation jokes in a movie based on toys marketed towards kids).

I like watching big robots hit each other, but Megatrons "It's time to make ourselves known to the world" line that he says on top of a skyscraper in the middle of a city in the sequel to a movie where the big climatic action scene was in the middle a fully populated city, tells me that this is easily the most pandering film franchise that I have ever had the misfortune of seeing and I question why I'm even watching it in the first place.

Ok there's something I want to talk about before we get too far off the subject of the Avengers

Here are the most contradicting sentences ever spoken by a human being, usually the same one:

"The Chitauri are boring villains. They don't even do anything!"

"I lose interest in the film in the last half hour. It's pretty much one nonstop action scene."

    ...That...

THAT'S WHEN THEY FUCKING DO THINGS

I'm not excusing these films for being so shallow and bad in taste: they're terrible. I know. I can point out a million things wrong with each (ok, 2 million with Revenge of the Fallen)

I'm simply saying that, as someone who can appreciate special effects, the ROBOTS are nice to look at. And the forest fight in the 2nd movie...amazing.

THEY ARE STILL BAD. REALLY BAD. BUT THAT FIGHT WAS OK. DON'T THINK I HAVE BAD TASTE.

I'm sorry, but when people say it's just one nonstop action scene...did they miss ALL OF THE FUCKING BANTER? YOU KNOW, THE SHIT THAT KEEPS PEOPLE REFERENCING IT FOREVER?

A focused plot and interesting, developing characters and all that fancy stuff are what make a movie good.
The banter and little things are what makes a movie memorable and give it a personality.

    Actually, the reason I love Loki . . .

    [IMG][DOUBLEPOST=1369472143][/DOUBLEPOST]

Wait, so you're saying that a movie about tranforming/fighting robots from space is supposed to make sense? . . . Legit.

I thought it was a pretty good trilogy. Oh, and Shia LaBeouf is super hot.

I'm not going to sit here and type out everything that is wrong with that assumption, I'm going to let someone with more patience than myself do it if they wish.

A concept, no matter how silly or out-there it sounds, never excuses poor storytelling, scriptwriting, acting, development, music, photography, etc.

It's obvious so little effort goes into attempting to make the Transformers trilogy actually work as films, which is really sad when there's actually lots of potential for the source material. Just imagine if Spielberg got his hands on the director's seat instead.

Cool story bro. Glad you play well with others.[DOUBLEPOST=1369472927][/DOUBLEPOST]

Why stop there. Why not give it over to George Lucas. I'm sure he'd do well with it if he doesn't sell it out first.

It's called "willing suspension of disbelief" for a reason. The audience has to be willing to suspend disbelief. Which means the author/director has to put in some effort.

Again with the hot actor thing. Listen, can you just watch porn like a normal, well-adjusted person? Masturbating in theaters is typically frowned upon.
