Sorry, but the only thing about Canada that's better is the fact that Canadians are generally 20% more polite than Americans, which is roughly 100% more polite than most 'Muricans.

We also have a better economy, and it's cleaner and safer
Also we have lots of clean water
And we beat America in a fight, we even burnt down their white house

Yes, and that's only because of the whole politeness thing that I mentioned.

Yeah, but you were under British control then, so you weren't Canada yet.

Yes. Its defining characteristic is all the misery that is shared freely.

Not really. The Brits were a force to be reckoned with back then. Canada, as a country, has a military which is both terrible and nonexistent.

I've seen this a few times and I really really like it but I have a few problems:
    1. Over-idealizing the past. Half his listed past achievements and attributes are opinions and misinformed ones at that. It's glamorization. We've been pulling this bullshit for 200 years.
    2. "We acted like men." Patriarchy is part of what's wrong with America.
    3. "But it can be." Okay, maybe it can. By some miracle we can, potentially, excel beyond any other country. But that's not what this is about. A lot of America's problems today were caused by, as he says, beating our chests and tossing around this idea AW YEAH AMERICA IS THE GREATEST WE FUCKING ROCK FREEDOM AND GUNS. Fuck that. It's not about being the best or kicking another country's ass (in war or in statistics). It's about treating people right, regardless of borders or nationality or citizenship or any of that crap. It's his major contradiction. I appreciate the optimism behind the intent, that we can fix things up and we can become a respectable place, but it shouldn't be out of a desire to "defeat" other countries or to return ourselves to some perceived former glory. It should be because it's the right thing to do.
