The energy present in the ocean is so high that a mere 0.2% of the total untapped ocean energy can power the whole of the world! The ocean holds a great deal of mechanical energy in the form of its tides, waves and thermal energy from the sun.
Sounds like a viable means of safe power, however the biggest problem is the cost of producing the equipment in order to fully utilise the potential of such machinery. That and it would need to be sanctioned as a viable means of renewable power. Not an easy thing to do. But good luck, I say.
