I always figured everyone had this odd little "quirk" that they can't deal with that would seem extremely odd to other people. This one thing that just has to be certain way out of a subconscious and (at times) uncontrollable need.

For me, that "quirk" is having the volume set to a number that isn't a multiple of 5. I don't know why, but if someone sets it to 23 in front of me, I'll get up and switch it to 20 or 25. If I'm strapped into something or I'm unable to change it, I'll feel restless until I focus on something else.

    How about you guys?

I hate when books are on a bookself, and their "spines"(or backs) arent on the outside.
I dunno,it just really annoys me...and then you dont see what book it is,or anything.

I dunno if this is a quirk...i have to have certain doors closed and i usually make sure they are locked if need be... sometimes i'll wake up and question whether or not i closed them...

I also hate when others call manga "anime" and the other way around. Especially when someone asks me if i draw "anime"... grrr makes me mad. I draw manga, M for "magazine" and anime, A for "animation". Not too difficult people!!! Hahaha.

When I eat McDonald's [not very often anymore], I always, always, always have to eat all of my french fries first before I touch my chicken nuggets. [because they're the only things I'll eat :3]

Another thing is that when I've jot something down for save keeping later, I always have to redo it nicely and organized.

I have a lot of these. The strangest one is this tendency to grind my teeth whenever I pass a telephone or light pole while driving. I grind my teeth on the left side for a pole on that side, and on the right side for a pole one that side. I try to predict their passing and time it perfectly. I do this without thinking. I have to think about it to stop doing it.

I straighten pencils and make sure that the spines of books run flat across shelves, center pieces in chess and other games, make shadows line up perfectly, and give myself various impossible tasks to complete while waiting. Like balancing things.

Holy crap, same here. Lets say I ask someone to turn up the volume, and they put it on 23, I'll put it on 25 or 20, like you. Glad Im not the only one lol.

When I was younger, whenever I picked something up, I had to smell it. Lol, not all the time, but yeah. That was long ago, now Im better.

I do the volume thing too, except I can only stand to have it on an even number.
I also tend to organize things as much as possible. Alphabetically, colour, shape, size. It only becomes bothersome in bookstores where inept workers shelf books poorly. It's more for ease of access than being orderly though.
And I plan out things beforehand. Not really consciously, but if I go to Place A or do Action B, I figure Events 1, 2, and 3 might occur. And if Event 1 were to occur, then outcomes A, B, and C could possibly happen, etc. It's only slightly bothersome because generally nothing of interest happens during mundane activities, making any planning futile. And the large end amount of outcomes makes it pretty impractical.

I remember checking this thread out yesterday (in fact, I posted).

I was thinking how some of you guys have something going on when listening to music, and it turns out I do the volume thing too.

When I'm listening to the radio (not a CD or my iPod), the volume can only be 11, 13, 22, 33, or 44. So double numbers are my thing.

This so much. I will often like slap the other side it's ridiculous.
I can't sleep with the door open or the closet door open.
If my nails have been bitten or something I have to file them. It can't have a rough edge on my nails.
Everything needs to be put away and in it's proper place. There are like tassles in my room on my curtains and if one of the strings are out of place I freak out and put it into place.

I have this exact same quirk, to be honest. It's a bother sometimes because I just feel so raged when it's too loud or too low. Sometimes I may make an exception and use 28. But that's about it, if I'm desperate.

Another one would be that that I can't stand to have two odd slices of bread when I make my sammich. I always need to have the same one that came out next to each other in the packages.
I organize my plate and cup in a certain way when I sit down to eat.

School related, I have to have my notebooks and pencils out in a certain way on my desk that feels most comfortable. Once I figure out a way, I never change it through the whole semester.

When using mouthwash, I always measure it out exactly.

When I type things out, I can't stand too many lines ending at the same length so close to one another.
For example, I'm just writing this out so that perhaps you understand what I mean about the even lines.
    Yeah... just annoys me.

I have many more but at the moment, I can not recall every single one but yes, so many things get to me than they should. Oh well.

I have to find relationships between numbers in everything. Like my phone number, say it starts with (502) 230 [it doesn't, lol] I'm like, "two is the third digit and two plus three is five which is the first number. the second and sixth digits are zero and six minus two is four - the fourth digit is two. the fifth digit is three, and three minus two which is the fourth digit is five" etc. etc. I can spend hours going through phone numbers finding relationships between all the numbers. ;__; ''
All the apps on my iPhone also have to take up exactly the right amount of rows on only two pages and are organized by both colour and use. My book shelves are organized by type, genre, colour, how much I like it, and size combined. Also sometimes by jokes like having A Day No Pigs Would Die next to Animal Farm. My markers and pens are all organized by colour. My backpack is organized by size and subject of papers. All my doors except for to the bathroom have to be shut completely at all times.
If anything isn't in place I freak out and can't sleep or function without it being perfect. I get really shaky and can't focus at all. ||OTL

This really only happens whenever I eat candy, or when I have little pieces of food, but I have to eat the same amount on each side of my mouth. So like, if I eat one gummy bear on my right side, I will have to eat one gummy bear on my left side right after. It goes on and on, and the number can go higher, but yeah. If I have an odd number, I just split it in half and chew on both sides of my mouth. IDK, I just feel really effin awkward if I don't eat like that.

thought process on an uneventful day

See that crack in the sidewalk? If you step on it, you will have to stop breathing for five minutes. That is the line between life and death. Will you step on it, thereby testing your own strength of will? Do you think you will follow through with it? You could just as easily step on it and not follow through with it. But if you did so, would you be able to trust yourself thereafter? If you question yourself one more time you will have to bang your head against the wall five times. Swallow a worm. Cut off your thumb. Anxious. There are no questions, no questions...

You step over the crack, and nothing is done. All is as was before the step of judgement.

I just realised that most of my little quirks are to do with pens. I am not 100% sure why.

First, if I see a pen without a lid (when it really should have one, biro's aren't too bad unless the lid in right next to it- it's more felt tip pen's and markers) then I stare at it and find it incredibly difficult to concentrate until that pen has got it's lid- I will get up and I will put the lid on the pen if I have to. I think this is a representation of how I hate wasting things... it makes me want to cry, I can almost feel the ink drying up.

Second, have you ever seen these fine liners:
I have to have them not only in rainbow order but also the sides that have writing on all have to be facing the front. I will order my friends pens if they don't comply to these rules and when they use my pens and don't do it then I have to sort them out.
Aside from that, I do like to have things in rainbow order if there is one but it's less of a dominent desire.

I have to line my pens up in exams so they are at right angles- everything has to be perpendicular to each other for me to begin my exam.

I also cannot throw plastic bottles or cans in the bin, I have to crush them and then put them in the recycling bin. If I see someone throwing recyclable things away then I cringe and may attempt to save it. They didn't have reclycing in India where I stayed, I held onto a lot of my bottles...

I'm pretty much the same way, it's weird.. Also, I get OCD when ever I don't clean my room after so long. I'll wait until my room gets as messy as it can get and then I'll clean becasue I get extremely OCD and clostrophobic as well.

I tend to bite my lips and the inside of my mouth a lot; it feels like if I'm not doing it, I'm not really focusing or anything. Also, I can't really stand to have my lips dry, I roll my tongue over them a lot, so people who watch me think I'm a little strange for it, or I'm making some kind of advance on them or whatever.

Come to think of it, most of my odd quirks involve my mouth, because there are a few more.

I cannot ever handle seeing pages of a book folded in.
If I happen to be reading and don't have a bookmark, I'll either fold a piece of paper or rest my finger in my book until I find something to save my page.
It will irk me to no-end even when I see someone else doing it.

Another would be messy tables, but mainly in my class.
If the Bell happens to ring and my table's not clean, I'll literally stay behind and clean everything and stack the books perfectly in the center, facing the same way.

    I'm a very organizing person.
