    @ Both

I thought I was clear, but I apoligize, let me clarify. There is nothing wrong with having affection for an inanimate object. But, I wore for the mental and emotional wellbeing of the individual. I believe this is similar to the emotional condition which causes hoarding. Hoarding is caused by connecting inanimate objects to emotional events or situations. Such becomes a "flaw" when they hoard unhealthy objects, such as trash, or when they hoard so much, it becoms a hazard to themselves or those around them.

What causes hoarding? Severe emotiona trauma and a flawed genetic disposition. I ask how hoarding is not a flaw? And what makes romantic feelings different?

This seems as if to say," being gay isn't real. It's fake.", though gay could be replaced with any sexuality. Hundreds and thousands of people get no attention, and yet they do it anyway. This is because it is their sexuality. You are not attracted to inanimate objects. You cannot prove it is fake. I feel, anyone who is not of a sexuality, should not try to disprove its existence. Object sexuality is legitimate.

@Celestia. The fact that liking an object and be sexually and romantically interested in an object are completely different.

How so? Assigning "unnatural" emotionl weight to an object is a flaw. So, assigning sexual and romantic feelings toward an. Inanimate emotionless object is not?

Allow me to reclarify: my concern is object sexuality not a condition, but a symptom. Much like hoarding is a sign of severe emotional trauma.

Your opinion is rightfully your opinion, but in general, deeming something 'fake' simply because you've never experienced it or you don't understand it isn't a very fair way of looking at it. Britishism has pretty much said what I would have, but yes. Unless you've experienced it, or you are somehow omniscient, you wouldn't have any idea that it was a 'hoax'. Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it's not real. This is the case with most things.

I don't understand why anyone would say they had a relationship with their inanimate object for attention, when (on a majority scale) the only kind of attention that gets you is negative. Not to say it hasn't been done before. I agree with you that in reality there are probably some people faking it. But on a grand scale, as Britishism also pointed out, object sexuality is reality. It is not a myth or a joke or a trick to be played. There are literally people in the world who are in love with inanimate objects, whether you understand why, or not.

I don't mean to offend you or anyone but you can't deny that I have pretty good facts... and Scientist have PROVEN that being gay is a certain part of your brain and in genetics so I believe in it. Until they say that they found something actually in the brain with objects then i'm sorry but I don't believe it and think it's all just for attention. Like Celestia said I honestly think it's just attachments to objects but they have no idea what REAL love feels like. Such as maybe form being picked on as a child and not having felt love or heart break before so they THINK it is love... How can you know it's love unless you feel the heart break...? They say that they feel upset when something happens to the object but that's just being ATTACHED to an object such as a stuffed animal or a blanket that you've had all of your life or a place that you used to pass by as a kid and you feel sad that it isn't there anymore like your favorite park... I'm not really judging i'm just using logical sense. We ALL know inanimate objects are inanimate for a reason... They can't move, speak, feel, hear,or have any organs so how can they possibly speak?

Argh. It is sexuality, do not diagnose it as a symptom of anything. Can't one be attached to something without being accused? Hoarding is a mental illness. But it is due to extreme like. I am not going to go proposition my best friend. Yet, I see your point, and understand. Perhaps I am just stubborn, but I refuse to let this be called a mental illness while none of us have experienced it.

@May Kitsune, They don't need the objects to speak, or anything, they are just attracted to them. Your growing bombardment on an actual sexuality grows offensive.

I have had dealings with hoarding. Its not natural.

I am sure most psychologist would diagnose object sexuality similarly to hoarding as a illness. Much like hoarding.

Meh. Perhaps, but some psychologists also consider other sexualities illnesses. As long as you consider to call it object sexuality, it can't be an illness. Perhaps strange, considered wrong, but it is not an illness.

A good example of bad attention that the person enjoys is bullying. Bullies enjoy the bad attention they get so it might be the same case where they just want attention period whether it is bad or not. I just don't see a relationship with an object like a true boyfriend/girlfriend, girlfriend/girlfriend, or boyfriend/boyfriend relationship with an object or place is possible at all... There was no such thing recorded about it for years so why would it appear out of nowhere and be fact? Most people nowadays value objects and money more so probably that's where it all started. It could all me a mental confusion depending what environment you live in. Unlike this homosexuality and transsexuals have been around since humans began roaming the earth.

^ THIS (to both posts. pretty much sums up what i had in mind.)

I do believe in the whole "to each their own," concept and ideology, but if I observed such behavior, I'd relate it to hoarding and classify that as an psychological illness. Of course, it isn't natural, and I would obviously not intervene with his/her "love affair," but I'd hope he/she receives medical attention. Hoarding simply comes from the fact that one is too emotionally attached to the object to part with it, and developing intimate feelings for an inanimate object too closely resembles that. It's unhealthy both for the said person's mental stability as well as his/her physical health.

How do you make sexuality the same as hoarding? Just because I'm straight doesn't mean I hoard women.
Same goes for an object. Object sexuality means you are sexually attracted to it, you want to actually have sex with it. It's not a craving to own it, it's to caress it, to love it.

All sexualites have existed since humans began.
But would you dare such cruel torture and offense? It is the same with transsexuality, homosexuality, etcetera. Only recently did peope begin to come out in large amounts. Thus, object sexuality, is real. It doesn't matter how you "see" it. It exists, and you do do not belong to object sexuality, so you can't prove it. Also, your earlier point about scientists proving homosexuality... your point? They only recently discovered that, and homosexuality ha been accepted longer, brought into the spotlight more often.

Anywho. No matter how you judge it, or dislike it, object sexuality is legitimate.

@Luna, You cannot judge object sexuality as being "too" attracted. Relating to what Noroz said, I am not "too" attracted to women. It is simply their sexuality. Sexualities are not illnesses, no matter how you look at it.

It's isn't the same as hoarding, but similar to it. Object sexuality is another line of having too close of an emotional attachment to one particular object versus more than one.

As per "hoarding women," a male or a female may not hoard their partners, but there are extreme cases of possessiveness. Replace a said OS patient's object with a human being, and you would see something similar to obsessive and possessive tendencies.

    I find it alright - We've all got...Quirks.
Although a bit strange, as long as they aren't hurting anyone, it's all cool.

I'm not being cruel in any way if it WAS real then why wasn't it shown for thousands of years? gays have been around for thousands and everyone knows that even though they weren't accepted it has been known about how come not even 5 years ago did this appear into light? It makes NO sense to me at all. If it were real and legitimate there would have been at least a few sightings over the years. I blame how humans are now super possessive of items like Celestia stated it's a type of hoarding or wrongful attachment if you guys fail to see how they are similar you should really think more similarities than just for the sake of human rights. Not to offend you but seriously you're getting so worked up about me trying to figure things out scientifically and mentally. I didn't at any moment say I was against it or disliked it I was just confused at how it's even physically or mentally possible and me and celestia are using our Knowledge from other symptoms of mental problems that can be really serious and dangerous to someones health.

But, there are only extreme cases of possessiveness, as you yourself stated. It seems you may have been contradicting yourself. Sure, people with OS may be extremely possessive. Bur anyone can be possessive.

@May Kitsune, there have been cases from the past, do look into it. Also. I notice only one similarity between hoarding and OS. There are objects involved.

For those of you who are still confused and whatnot. Or just might find a few answers answered about this topic. In the branches of youtube is a segment Tyra Banks did on her show, where she interviewed Erika Eiffel(the woman who married the Eiffel Tower out of love.) and she also asks a Dr. Amy Marsh about OS.

For those who are curious, here's the link where Tyra asks the Doctor the questions.

Dr. Amy Marsh(A sexologist.) herself points out that in her opinion, she believes that it's just like being heterosexual, homosexual, etc..
Which is what I'm leaning towards, as opposed to it being an illness of some sort.

Also the fact that it's an attachment and it most likely isn't healthy at all.

    This.
There will always be extremes when it comes to anything, collectors, religion, politics etc. However, just for those very few individuals, doesn't make it unhealthy to collect something, or to have religious/political views.

Why isn't being attached to an item healthy?
I think it's worse being hopelessly in love.

Id like to ask how object sexuality is not extreme possessiveness? You literally, "own" your sexual partner. It has no ability to refuse your will. It is the possessiveness to the ultimate degree.
