The term hallucinate would imply that there is a state of non-hallucination though.

Correct, but I'm using the word to make the point there is no difference between perceiving hallucination and perceiving reality: It's all perception. The implication is misleading.

Since it's all perception, it stands to reason that throw around the word reality too casually. Reality is a bed time story we tell our kids so they stop asking questions.

Within the context of your hallucination you could prove that God exists or a murderer, though

Only if your definition of proof is that weak. Empirical proof doesn't help you get closer to some kind of external truth because it only describes the world you perceive. When you say 'There is a chair in the corner', the truthful statement (from your perspective) is, 'I perceive a chair in the corner'.

That doesn't cheapen it, mind you. This really is as good as conceptual reality if because even if only you can see, touch, taste, and sit on the chair, you can still do those things. It has the same use to you as a 'real' chair, so there is absolutely no point to the distinction.

My point in bringing this up is that tasting something is tasting something; that doesn't mean it 'really' exists. It doesn't prove anything exists but your perception of the thing.

Whether you consider that perception good enough or not is the question.

No, it can't be a truthful statement because there is literally no way to prove that the world you experience isn't a hallucination. You don't know if the pudding even exists

You are seriously missing the point.

As far as we are concerned, it is possible that existence is a myth. Nothing exists, everything is perceived to exist. All we have is our perceptions. Therefore, existence = perception = reality = hallucination. The idea that something 'exists' is just that: an idea. It only exists as a concept in our heads. We will never know for sure that anything exists outside of ourselves.

On that note, read again. The statement 'I perceive a chair' is true whether it is a hallucination or not. Perception applies to whatever comes in via your sensory experience no matter what is real.
