Site News Noticing Things Missing?

Ffff.....


I feel like I'm witnessing the last hack (when I wasn't a member), but on a smaller scale....

 

I don't remember the first hacking. When was that? It sounds pretty bad.

 

It's summer vacation. Crackers (which are the specific variation of hackers that do **** like this) don't have anything better to do with their lives.

Last August someone took down the site and f*cked **** up. We lost about a month's worth of posts and info, It was really bad. Most refer to it as a time warp.

 

Huh. I was a member last Augest. I wonder why I didn't notice? Of course, I wasn't as die-hard attached to kh-vids last year, and I was pretty busy the whole summer.

 

If only the SEGA forums were like this.

These forums got hacked, so I'm guessing that's where that long database error came from yesterday, but that's it.

However, as of today, the SEGA forums have been down for two weeks. :(

 

Could it be a rival site or someone that has a grudge on kh-vids?
That would be my first guess.

 

It wasn't a rival site or anything, as far as we know they have no connection to the site. Hacker groups like this one have been springing up more and more often lately, what they do is attack sites/companies to wake up the people in charge to the security holes.

We are working on making things more secure.

 

That is true, but do keep my idea in mind, there are always new fan-sites popping up everywhere and get jealous of others because the one they have is not getting much attention so they hack them and make the users join them by sending fake E-mails saying something like "KH-vids has moved to a new site, please join our new site but dont worry our systems are better then ever"
I have some experiences with people hacking me sending fake profile links to all my friends sending viruses.

 

It's not, when they hacked us they made sure we knew what site they were from. It's not a gaming related site at all, but I'm not going to say any more than that.

 

Is it possible or viable to upgrade? I can't imagine vBulletin leaving something like this unpatched for too long, so there's probably an update around.

 

We're considering that, but RvR's away right now and IIRC he's the one that spdude gave the ability to access upgrades to. So that will likely happen, just not within the next few days.

 

I'm talking to spdude and seeing if I can just get the vBulletin customer login, that's all I need. If/when I do there will be some downtime while we upgrade (probably to vB 4.1.3, 4.1.4 is out but isn't yet compatible with some of our modifications), which I will announce in advance.

Worst comes to worst though we just have to wait for RvR to get back from vacation. =]

He and some of his friends were banned last night for threatening the forum.
Appreciate the vigilance though, lol.

 

Not gonna lie, he had characters reserved in my RPs so I was just wondering if I should keep them reserved in case it was an accidental hack. But thanks~

 

That was a different case, he's supposed to be banned. If you want more info ask him.

Edit: My bad, didn't see Wolfie's post. His is a temp ban though so he will be allowed back.

whoever keeps hacking khv can go die in a ditch I mean *seriously* get a ****ing life hackers.>:[ they have nothing better to do then hack a great forum like khv, god whens the torment gonna end.D:<


EDIT btw I dunno if this was caused by the hack but a thread in the code vault is missing it's the kingdom hearts birth by sleep final mix code thread can it be recovered because I'f so then let me know before had before me or someone else decides to create a new thread.:/
