    Text = Fails

    In the first one, there seems to be a lack of depth. All the affects seem to be in front of Master Chief. Maybe reorder some of your layers to make them seem like they're coming from behind, and from in front of him. Otherwise it makes the sig seem rather 2D. (Even though it technically is since it's on the computer...but you get what I mean.)

    The second one is very good, reminds me of BK's early work The only cnc I have is that i thinkt hat Master Chief should be more prominent, he's almost completely covered by affects. And also the text could use a lot of work. The font was not the best choice and the plain white clashes with the rest of the tag. Maybe a clipping mask? Same with the first one's text.

    Thanks for that Cin.

    The problem Meh has with layers is that I dunno how to move them backward and forward, and some effects need to be on the same layer as the background to get the effect I want.

    And about the text....Meh was never really good with that XD and Meh's lack of fonts (well, downloaded ones at least) is partly causing that.

    Thanks for your thaughts though on this, I'll try to get another one done today, see how it turns out.

    Go to your layer pallete and find the layer you want, then move it up or down to indicate moving it forward or backward. (If you can't find your layer pallate, it's usually on the far bottom right of the PS screen, but sometimes it's not there, so go to workspace and select default workspace, and the layer pallete should appear, because it's part fo the default PS setup.)

    On both of those, bring out the stock more, take out the text, and give us a much more dynamic light source that isn't so unrealistic.

    I'd start off by bringing out master chief, and taking off the text. It just doesn't flow with the tag. The second one's huge white blotch on the bottom area makes it very ugly and pasty. Try and remove it, and put in a light source somewhere near the upper area. Also, the blurred C4D-thing on the right could use some editing. I'd, first of all, not blur it. Instead, I'd just erase some of it to save time and effort. Since I can tell you're looking for something surreal, it wouldn't be a horrible thing to just erase.

    Your first tag needs a lot of work as well. Overall, the midtones grow dominant over the entire tag (except the negative space). I'd take out that text, and work up some text that's a little more blended and grungy. A personal habit of mine is to put text on, and smudge it a little to blend it (but still make it readable). Also the light is very off, again. Tag out that strange white blotch and put a sharper light source near the top right where that other cloudy part is. The lines are very confusing. I'd replace them with filters, then top them with a mask to add flow and depth. Blurring and erasing this isn't necessary, because you can just blur the background afterward. Another thing is the apparent white splatter on the right side (bottom). Take it out, it's very distracting to me as a viewer. Overall, bring out the stock more to identify who and what is the focal point and what is not (the background that could be blurred).

    Not bad. Keep working on it.

    Okay, thanks for that Darkwatch.

    I miss so many things. I wasn't aiming for the second tag to have a big white blotch, and most of my tags are experimentations on what I can do, how I can improve, etc.

    But your comments are appreciated.

    It just occured to me you're working with GIMP, not PS. Nevermind what I said about the layer pallete, because I've never had the pleasure of using GIMP and therefore have no idea.

    No problem. I'm starting to think that I need to put 'made with GIMP' somewhere in my posts. Once again, thankies for your help guys.

    to move around layers in GIMP go to the main gimp window and hit File>Dialogs>Layers. that should help.

    I'm too tired to do gfx critique. xP
