I just found myself thinking about this recently and found that this hasn't been discussed here in a long while, so I'm wondering what people think about it.

In the World Terminus section that corresponds to Hollow Bastion you end up in a room that you did not find in your visit. It is room with some sort of a machine with five human sized chambers hooked up to glass sphere and a terminal with a message that reads...

I've always found this area interesting. It is all surprisingly enigmatic and cryptic for Kingdom Hearts, especially considering you can only go there once. Some of the notes are very straight forward, while others still elude me some.

I love the various notes in various Kingdom Hearts games that foreshadow and hint to various events and people, for example this and the book in yen sids tower. Both are very intriguing and could be pondered and analyzed till they bleed.

I agree, I was blown away by that area. It was so interesting. I can't think of a better word for it. I wish it would come up again, in later titles--but who's lab was it again? Haven't played KH1 in some time, and as mixt said, you can only go there once.

I thought on this too. The only things I came up with was with the one key to the door thing we now know is X-blade. The "tied by two keys" is the kingdom key and the one from the dark side (Perhaps X-blade when it was destroyed). In all, I think this foreshadows possible future events, but also holds fragments of the past as well. (Birth by Sleep)

Well the notes are reminiscent of the Ansem Reports (really Xehanort's) but more poetic. It is assumed to be the lab of the apprentices as the worked without Ansem the Wise.

Many have assumed this is where they ultimately gave up their hearts but there is one major hole I see with that. Six apprentices and five chambers. If this is that area then one of them (likely Xehanort) had not done it at that time. If they ever bring it up it could be a interesting story there.

The whole "Six apprentices five chambers," if it comes up, would likely be retconned as there having been six chambers there. And besides, it's not out of the question that Ienzo gave up his heart a couple years after the fact, especially considering how Zexion is much older than Ienzo and how Nobodies don't age.

    Whoa. Fridge brilliance right there.

    I remember that note, too.
To this day, I still cannot make any sense of the note.

Yes, though, Kingdom Hearts has some pretty interesting notes, especially regarding the journal notes on Ansem.

Well most of them are full grown, and we don't see them for very long. So we don't know that they don't age. We see Namine with signs of aging. She may be a special case, but until shown otherwise that is enough proof for me to say that nobodies age.

Besides, Ienzos age is really the only factor we know of that would set him apart from the other five. I doubt they would care much about that given the situation and their personalities.

Nomura specifically said that Nobodies don't age.

As for Ienzo, even if they didn't care about his age, he most likely didn't even know about it at the time. Due to the nature of the experiment, they most likely did it at night while Ienzo was sleeping. Alternately, Even, who does seem to truly care about Ienzo, had them wait to change him. Either way, it's the only plausible explanation for Zexion's age.

Back to the notes, I was always under the impression that the were all one long poem or something and, looking back, it was just Apprentice!Xehanort letting himself have one last expression of feeling before giving all that up. That, or he wanted to see how a Nobody, not having emotions, would react to poetry, which quite often evokes an emotional response. The latter is the most likely though, given that Apprentice!Xehanort cared more about the experiment than his own indulgement.
