Are there really people who do this?

Because I just got through Terra's playthrough on Critical (I only played half way through everyone's stories in the Japanese version of the game, before this) and I must say, HOLY ****, finally beating

Terranort

was the most satisfying feeling ever.

Sure, I haven't unlocked all of the shotlocks, abilities, deck commands, or command styles yet, but I still feel really satisfied. And to think I'm only 1/3 of the way done. BBS really is the best game in the series so far (besides KH3D, because I haven't played it yet).

 

I have a save file on each game completed on the highest difficulty. Sometimes I'll go back and play through again for nostalgia's sake, but I usually don't do this on the highest difficulty.[DOUBLEPOST=1383024728][/DOUBLEPOST]

How anyone can feel satisfied after beating Terranort on critical is beyond me. Having to cheese bosses is not fun.

 

The sad part is I've done this...they're pretty easy as long as you have thunder surge just have to be careful with health, though I've only bothered to beat them with Ven.

 

I mean, Fight against them as Terra and that you cannot use Thunder Surge or any similar attack commands. That's the challenge there.

KH has incredibly lame difficult settings. Square Enix works with RPGs too much and really really believes that the only thing difficulty is is the amount of damage that gets dealt
The only critical mode worth playing is KH2FM's, because they at least give you some extra toys to play with

Aqua's the only good character in the game. Story is also very overrated, it's decent at best. The fact that you have to play through the same story three times doesn't help how good it is.

 

To actually answer your question, yeah, hardest difficulty is the only way to play. Otherwise it's pretty much just pressing the X button.

But the entire reason that I clicked on this thread is because I wanted to say that your username is pretty great.

 

Since I always enjoy getting 100% completion on the games anyway, I tend to go for the lowest difficulty rating I can that still allows me to get the secret ending and any other trophies. So for instance on BBS I played critical mode simply because one of the trophies could only be unlocked that way.

But I'll be honest I've played the numbered games and chain of memories all on both standard and hard mode, and I honestly couldn't tell that much of a difference. More damage taken but not like there's any extra challenges or restrictions
