A new interview with Nomura from Famitsu has been published. FF-Reunion has posted the details of how their may be changes in the KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep title for the Western release.

We wanted to know about the next game.
Nomura: First we have to release Kingdom hearts Birth by Sleep in the West. There have been some thoughts about making a critical mode, along with adjusting the bosses to a stronger level, because we felt they were a bit weak. Megaflare was too strong, so have to adjust that too.

If your changing some content in the Western version, does that mean we will see a Final Mix?
Nomura: We are not sure. We have to see where it takes us and how much changes there would be in the Western version. We would like to get a "KINGDOM HEARTS" game out at least once a year, instead of waiting so long. Mike's Note: They always want a Final Mix. Nomura should really concentrate on the next title.

In two years it will be the 10th anniversary for the series. What about KHIII?
Nomura: That's a secret. There is still a game to come out that is a mystery, but it will connect the series.

Does that mean the Series will be over after the third title?
Nomura: The story for Kingdom Hearts is about Sora, but also one other person. The series is expanding and is also centering on this other person.

    Mike's note: I really think it's...

    Aqua
What a great way to turn the story. I think this person has a huge part, just like Sora.

    The series is currently expanding!?
Nomura: I can’t say anymore than that. (Laughs)

I really am excited about the new kingdom hearts games... But why the plot twist?
      I mean really.

This may explain why Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep is taking so long to come out in NA and Europe, right?

i guess so, they have to fix some hidden bugs that they may have found, and to edit MegaFlare. (also, maybe because people kept complaining about not being on the PSPGo, They may be working on a DL version, who knows)

I hope on this game, the lip synch is fixed to the respective language. I hated ReCom's lack of such. (meaning the mouth moved in Japanese, but English words came out, FAIL)

Well, at least we know that the western version is better than the original, and now is absolutely confirmed that there is going to be a KH3, but now I'm worried that it most be the last of the series =(

I hate it when they're all mysterious. >:|

Aqua does seem to be a possibility for the character that the games will be centered around from now on, but I can't say I love the idea, as much as I like Aqua. IMO, Sora will always be the posterboy of Kingdom Hearts. The rest really are just supporting characters... costars, if you will. You like them and they're cool and all, but the main character is the main character.

It's not. Nomura said he's expanding the series. I could see an end for Sora eventually, but not for the series. Not at the rate it's going...

Before anyone mentions it, I HIGHLY doubt it's going to be Reconnect, since Sora won't be in this next game, and it's obvious Sora would be in Reconnect.

I can see this next title on the DS, possibly. Days has been getting so much critical praise.

Oh god, they're gonna make tweeks for the western release? It's gonna take forever for that thing to come out here!
Isn't this why they have games testers? So they are able to tell what needs improving, like Boss difficulty and what not?
Just release the damn thing, Nomura...

Anywho, the part where Nomura mentions the series not only being about Sora I instantly thought of Riku. Maybe Kairi, too.
Aqua seems like too recent of an addition to the series to be such a pivotal character for the franchise.
Oh, maybe Xehanort. He's been in every KH game in some form or another.

Oh dear, I hope by "changing the cutscenes" he doesn't mean to tweak the story. I'm hoping he means that he's gonna change the way it's going to be executed.

For instance, I like how the way the story was split up into three scenarios but my guess is that the team is going to try to make it so that all three scenarios are more smoothly connected. Hmm, who knows...

Anyway, thanks for putting up the interview.

Yeah, I was thinking that this Mister McImportant Guy had to be either Xehnaort- being the moral oposite of Sora and all- or Riku- being Sora's lancer and another important driving point in the series.

Either way, I'll be interested in what Nomura cranks out.

"Nomura: The story for Kingdom Hearts is about Sora, but also one other person."

I'm thinking it could be Riku that the series is going to shift to. We see more and more of his character with each new game (almost in leaps and bounds). Aqua would be cool, too. Don't have BBS and I already like her. Hopefully, it isn't Kairi. Sorry, Kairi fans, but I think she wouldn't be a very good character to base a series on. Might turn into another FFX-2 escapade, girly power! xP

You know what, I don't care how many changes are made to the game, as long as the story doesn't change and I still get to fight Xehanort then I'm all for it...

That's a big possibility...I mean Riku was originally chosen to be the Keyblade Master, and I would like to see more of Riku's character...probably still trying to redeem himself after all the things he did in KH1

but there's also one other thing...who was the man who left the island...was it Xehanort? perhaps that's who we'll see more expansion upon...

i hope they dont make a final mix but i quess our version is better with the adjusting

no one really cares about the lip sync the importent thing is that we get the game

perhaps that explains why it's taking a long time for a release. i guess the US version is getting bonus material like with KH1.

On the subject of syncing the character's lips to the English cast, that would result in the game coming out in a YEAR or two. They would have to rip all of the models out of the game, tweak the lips and possibly some body language, and put them back in. They would have to do all of this WITHOUT screwing up the flow of the game. Thus, a N.A. release would take FOR-EFFING-EVER.

      Ahem...

Anyway... Great bit of news, there, Mike! Can't wait to see/hear some more! Although, as I haven't been very good with ANY of the Kingdom Hearts battle systems, I would actually prefer the bosses to be the same difficulty as the Japanese version, if not EASIER! Oh, well. I guess that's why they make an "Easy Mode," huh?

      . . .

      xD

No... the most possible other person wouldn't be Riku nor Aqua. If you are talking about a technical guess to whom is this "other character" it has to be Master Xehanort (you know, old guy). In Birth by Sleep, there was one as well as many other topics that were VAGUELY explained, such as the past Keyblade War, Who is Xehanort, and where did he come from, and why he chose Sora in particular in the extraction of Ven (If anyone can give a clear one for this, please provide me) If the series is expanding, then it increases the fact that Xehanort may not be the true villain of the story. Besides, who or what may have Xehanort become so fixated in Kingdom Hearts? What drove him to commit the actions he did in Birth By Sleep? Probably a history of Xehanort will answer some questions to the catastrophe that happens in Kingdom Hearts 1. I have a hunch that it was someone else that inspired Xehanort to his role in the series today. This is only a guess to what I should suspect will happen throughout the future games. However, this is my guess, because Nomura can change things. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT NOMURA HAS INSIDE THAT HEAD OF HIS!!!!!!

i think that it is Riku and not Aqua because there are some mysteries about riku for example where did he get wttd and kairis keyblade
