Nobodies

Just a quick question, but I've been reading a few interviews and I've become a bit confused. When a person becomes a Heartless, does what's left automatically become a Nobody? Or is it only if they had a strong heart?

 

If they have a strong heart, they will look like what their other half's look their, ergo, they may join the organization, a weak heart would just turn them into a dusk, I think.

 

It's actually a little more along the lines of, "only a very strong will earns somebody a Nobody, and only about the strongest one percent get a human Nobody." While Heartless can be formed from absolutely anybody, it's not the same for a Nobody.

 

The way I understand it a person with a strong heart the body and spirit left behind try and compensate for the loss of the heart by trying to keep the person the same hence same looks same powers ect. The one thing the body and spirit can't do is give emotions again hence Nobody.

 

A strong heart is a condition for all nobodies. Nomura did state in Director's Secret Report XIII that there are more requirements for it than that though. Inside of those we might find what makes a "human nobody"

 

In most cases, (like everyone else already said) yes you need a strong heart. HOWEVER you don't need to become a heartless to create a nobody. There was that one exception with (I don't know if this is really considered a spoiler, but just in case...)

Kairi.
Remember? She never became a heartless, yet she has a Nobody (Namine). When her heart left Sora's body, a Nobody was created from Kairi's heart, but Kairi herself was never turned into a heartless. But then again Namine was created under special circumstances...

...so I assume this is a one time deal here and it probably won't happen ever again in the Kingdom Hearts universe.

 

Well, It said strong will not heart so you can assume any being that has a strong will (light or dark) can have a nobody. The strongest will gets themselves a human nobody and only strong will itself gets a dusk or a samuri or something like that. Terranort had THREE strong wills so that garenteed Xemnas. With princesses of heart or Ventus, they had no darkness in them so they couldn't have a heartless, let alone a nobody. So then the reason Namine could have been created could be that Kairi and sora's hearts merged and that is how namine came to be. Kairi herself did not become a heartless but Sora did and his heart was merged with Kairi's by a connection so ya. And same with Ventus. Ventus lost his heart when they destroyed the X-blade so then it merged with sora's to "heal" hence the statement of him needing to go back to sleep again. When sora became a heartless, Roxas was created and that's why Roxas looks like Ventus.

 

The stronger the persons heart the more powerful the nobody if there is a nobody at all. Nobodies are rarer then heartless but more powerful (I think), and since not everyone has a strong heart not everyone who turns into a heartless gets a nobody.

 

I'm thinking it's more like this:

Every human gets a heartless and a Nobody. And if the human is strong enough in (heart, will, ect.) They're respective Heartless/Nobody will retain a human form.

 

KH2 is pretty clear that not everyone gets a nobody. And again Nomura was pretty blunt in the Director's Secret Report XIII

Note that this is a translation and there gets to be grammar issues. I can't find any source for this now but iirc in Japanese it is more clear that the "strong heart" has more to do with the formation of the nobody than of the heartless. And even with the strong heart he says it is rare for a nobody to be formed at all. Nobodies in the shape of humans are exceedingly rare.
