Seems a little more organized if we can just have a sticky where you can discuss it. Lmao.

Though you can still post topics about games and such; this topic is for discussion of both games and the console (and what's to come).

Considering the sales, I think developers are taking notice, it might take a year or 2 but good third party games will come.

But also developers like the Wii because it's easy to develop for when compared to the PS3 or 360 which have very high production costs. But the worry is if developers use the Wii to the full potenial. Right now that isn't happening, and so far like the DS are just random mini-game games like Warioware.

Generally for some reason mini-games are just a lot of fun, and well....for some reason they appeal to little kids (I wonder why?).

I think the Wii has good potential but it's just like the Gamecube; if a game like RE4 doesn't come out on it it won't last too long and will most likely be cut short and in 3rd place. Gamecube (I think) was in 3rd or 2nd (I can't remember), but still, Nintendo is just into making games for a wide audience of families and multiplayer games are a key factor in it.

): Poor little console and it's non-existent DVD drive.

The question that has been on my mind, is in ten years, how will Nintendo move to the next step with this console.

@Dual Wielder: I'm not sure, honestly. They have great potential but they are the kind of company that prefers gameplay over graphical power. In actuality this is a very good thing because a lot of their games now look like very high quality Gamecube games. And another next-step mark is the Wii-mote. A very good, intuitive creation that is working very well (or so it seems).

    =/

Well, it's kind of funny. When the last gen consoles were out, Sony was on the top with the PS2, while Nintendo was in the dirt with the purple lunch box. I'm actually really glad they made Nintendo back on the top as the number one gaming company all around the world and in both console and handheld. I wish the Cube would've lasted longer, but wasn't it out for as long as the PS2 was?

    No.

Gamecube debuted in 2002 (I think) or late 2001, which is close to the PS2's launch.

    I'm not sure though.

A while back Will wright (creator of Spore) made a rant on how he does not qualify the Wii as a next gen console due to its inferior graphics and lack of next gen expectations.

Lemme see if I can dig it up.

@Moodkip Your for getting the Dreamcast in that list.

But what is really the definition of next gen? To me, a next gen should be more than just a simple update in graphics and power, no, that's not a next generation, that's just a stronger current generation. The Wii is the only one that stands out, it truly designed something that is next generation, they went out on a limb just like all designer have to do to change the gaming world, and you know what? It sure is paying off. I guess the point of this little rant is this; This is MY definition of next gen, your's may be different, his may be different.

The Wii has a completely new style of gameplay now as WELL as every game resembles that of a high quality Gamecube game.

If that's not next-gen enough then what is? <_< It's doing far better good-game-wise than the other consoles.

Well, do you people think the Virtual Console was a good idea or bad idea?

I see the Wii as NEW gen not NEXT gen because its something that has never been done on a home console and is barely an upgrade of the Gamecube.

Also about the virtual console I dont see a point. With all this interweb thecnology today you could easily play the games for free on some website or an emu.

Ah, but something can't be a new generation if it's already been in existence generations before hand. Barely an uprgrade of a Gamecube? That is per chance the stupidest thing you have ever said. Let's face it, the Gamecube sucked. Sure, it had two or three hits, but that's it. The Wii is a huge step up in multiple ways, like online or way better controls. If you want to say a system is 'barely an upgrade' complain about the 360 and the PS3 all it is is better graphics, to me, that's less than all the improvements Nintendo's made to their system.

And about virtual console, there IS a point. >_>; I mean if you want to look at it Jube's way, then why is there even Itunes? I mean, I could just as easily download it illeagally just like those video games he mentioned. Nintendo, just like every other company, hopes that this will allow people who DON'T illegally download things still get a chance to play Nintendo's classics.
