Nintendo Announces New Handheld; 3DS

Change the word in bold to movies and it's exactly what I say when I go to watch a film and am handed a pair of glasses, which piss me off cause I can't wear those things over my own glasses which I need to see the film in it's greatest quality in the first place.

If games are becoming like this I'm gonna hate my possible future job. I already hate the cinema, I could imagine them having Sex and the City 2 in 3D which would scare anyone for life with Sarah Jessica Parker's face popping out the screen at you. But if they do this with games and have something like Disgaea, which is in isometric 2D, it'd be pointless.

I hope this 3D thing is optional or only for a few games, cause I'd be mentally fucked up playing Pokemon or an FF remake in 3D.

 

Thank you thank you thank you. Everytime I say that everything should not be in 3D people are like "OMFG nu let's go paint ourslevels blu nd wtch avatar!!!1!" Noveau is right; it's a gimmick. I feel the same way about the Wii. Yeah, it's cool at first, and kind of fun, but after a while you're tired of it. You're just sitting there like "is this all that there is to it?" Oftentimes when there are things like 3D, the best part about the movie is the 3D; not the story or the characters. I'd rather be blown away by a beautiful story than be blown away by dust particles flying at me.

But i am getting tired of DS releasing things CONSTANTLY i mean with the 3DS, are they going at five models? PSP should catch up on the models, they are at 4 lol

 

I do not think it is a gimmick. It depends on the way that it will be used. It is 50%-50%. It has equal chances of failure as succeeding. It is too early to judge.

Will the 3DS just have the new 3D and joystick? Or will normal graphics/sound be better as well?

 

But we're not talking about the DSiXL. This is the Nintendo 3DS which is suppose to be more powerful and have 3D capabilities.

The Graphics Don't make the game at all. It's About the game itself I Really hope They don't apply this to Every single game it comes out.

Exactly. Look at Zelda Windwaker or Valkyria Chronicles. I love the Cel-shaded graphics. There are other ways to make a game visually beautiful without it being in 3D. A plot and characters are more important to a game than the graphics. The graphics should be kept up to par to our time, but that doesn't mean 3D. Especially on hand held games.

I'm not terribly excited about this. Lately all Nintendo seems to care about is gimmicks. When the DS came out, Nintendo's main focus was 'OMFG TWO SCREENS!'
Well, great, but is that going to help gameplay at all? DSi has a camera? Whoop-de-doo! But will it give us better graphics? Seriously, compare 358/2 days to BBS. There's NO comparison. I would be happy to give up a screen, and 3D for that matter, for what's REALLY important and what it REALLY boils down to-Processing power. Potential for games needs to keep increasing in handhelds. 3D and other gimmicks are great- but they can fall down by the wayside.
If the 3DS has the same limited capabilities of the DS, but is in OMG 3D, I doubt anyone's going to be interested in buying it.
