ok, i have a new theory to add to the mountain of theories sorrounding this game

those of us that hunted down the secret video for BBS in KH2 know that the phrase 'chasers' is mentioned

but what really is a chaser?

chaser: an engraver or embosser of metal or glass, somebody or something that forcefully pursues another person or thing

now, this could either mean the beings that created the keyblades, due to the metal reference, or beings that chase something

but here's a thought: what if a chaser is just an old name for the heartless?
beings without something that 'chase' said thing
due to them not having hearts, they 'chase' those that do to take them away

so maybe the heartless were called 'chasers' before they were studied further

i just had this thought, so i felt like seeing what others thought

ps: sry if somebody already posted on this theory

 

Chaser is also something you drink after alcohol to help avoid a hangover.

Seriously... I would be willing to bet a chaser is something that chases. I doubt its a heartless.

I would bet its reffering to Ven Aqua and Terra chasing Master Xehanort.

 

Chaser could be something, it could be someone. It could be nothing, it could be everything.

The term is too vague for any real reading into just yet. We may as well come to understand it after playing BBS.

Or must I remind you how trivial the phrase "We shall go together" was from the Deep Dive video?

That was a total joke...

That line had almost no significance what so ever.

 

Seeing how Terra can change his Keyblade's form in the KH2:FM battle, the "metal-maker" definition makes more sense. I think all Keyblade wielders of the past were called "Chasers" due to their ability to change their Keyblade's form. It could have been an old technique or something.

 

Well, it most certainly CANNOT be an early name for Heartless. Nomura has confirmed that this story takes place before there were Heartless and Nobodies.

It could be someone who makes a Keyblade, until you think about the premise of the game. Terra, Aqua, and Ven are searching for, or "forcefully pursuing," the missing Master Xehanort and his apprentice. The three knights are very likely the "Chasers" of Master Xehanort and his apprentice.

 

ok, then explain to me what those black creatures that we see terra fighting are then

if those arent heartless then what are they?

dyyor, nice post. I think this is a great topic. I think that the Chasers are the Dark Warriors (ICSP knows where i'm goin' with this) from the early FF games. ICSP himself has brought up the question of "are the knights the dark warriors, they look like the ones from ff3." I am totally convinced, and see that as a connection to the whole bbs game plot. Chasers are chasing after something....and nice wording earlier

They are not heartless. If you were a true KH fan, you'd know that Nomura said they were a totally different "species" that came before the heartless..

Well, popular belief is that they are ancestors of the heartless. And why do you call them cosmas? O.o

 

i havent read the interview, been too busy with other stuff, that and i dont really know where to find it

as for them being a new species, maybe ur right about them being ancestral heartless

or more over, a less evovled form of the heartless, the most common of the pure breed heartless are the shadows, maybe they had to adapt to something 10 years ago, the seem to be a to undefined in form

What if they are creatures from the void in between the worlds :S

 

... There's a symbol, that Roxas draws on the table in the mansion...

Taking a look at that one thing that had it's mouth open, the symbol that Roxas drew can clearly be seen...

Can it be? Are these creatures really complete beings that have descended into the depths of darkness and despair.

If so, they truly aren't heartless or nobodies... They are whole... yet missing something... Could it be the same thing that Ven has lost? Is Ven destined to degenerate into one of those things?

 

I have a theory that I'm working on. Maybe they are Keyblade Masters that lost their hearts, but because their hearts were so strong, they didn't become Nobodies. That would explain why Roxas had his own heart. And where does the heart go? It becomes a new Keyblade. That would explain the fight with Terra in KH2FM+! Terra turned into one of those things, his heart became the Kingdom Key and-

Anyway, Terra's heart became the Kingdom Key, and chose Riku. But when Sora grabbed on to Riku's light,(After Riku is consumed on Destiny Islands, a small light appears, and Sora grabs it.) the Kingdom Key went to Sora by accident.
