Emm scratched the pup's head...

"Her name's Mariska..."

Mariska yelped an affirmative.

Emm smiled softly as she led the way to the living room...

 

"Nice name" He said taking his jacket off


"So how was vacation?"

 

Emm rolled her eyes as she put Mariska on the floor.

The pup ran to the kitchen to finish her meal.

"Horrible wouldn't stop hailing..." Emm pulled a picture album seemingly out of no where.

"Did get some pictures of the animals I helped save from a forrest fire though..."

 

"Ah well at least you went away" he said looking at the pictures

 

One picture stood out from the plain animal ones...

It was Emm and two men in rescue uniforms smiling and waving at the camera...

"There the ones who gave Mariska..." she muttered to herself, standing up to check on the pup.

 

"hmmm?" Hitai looked at her



"Something wrong"

 

"Just need to check on her... She's too curious for her own good..." she smiled.

"Stay here if you like..."

She walked to the kitchen careful not to make any noise...

 

"Ok" He said sitting down

 

Emm stepped into the kitchen but Mariska was no where to be found... She pondered where the pup would run off to...


Mariska carefully jumped the back of Hitai's seat trying not to alert him of her presence.

She sniffed his hair then licked his face when she found he was not an enemy.

 

Hitai leant back "What the..." he wiped his face



"Howd you get behind me?"

 

Mariska jumped down to Hitai's lap and barked twice...

Emm came rushing in at the sound...

"How'd she get there?"

 

"Exactly what i was thinking" He said petting Mariska

 

"She so mischeivous..."

She went back to the kitchen to clean up the plate. She turned on the sink to wash it.

Mariska sat contented in Hitai's lap, curling up into a ball to take a nap.

 

"Great....fur" he said watching her curl up

 

Mariska yawned softly, showing her razor-sharp teeth, and settled into a nap.

Emm walked in and looked between Hitai and Mariska. Shaking her head, she started laughing.

"Looks like you've got a new friend Hitai..."

 

"Not funny" he muttered stroking Mariska

 

"What's not funny? Don't you like her?" Emm teased. Her tail wagged playfully...

 

Hitai was careful not to stare at her tail "...No comment"
