My music library ranges from The Who, Jethro Tull and Rush to Machinae Supremacy, Masterplan and The Protomen, I don't care if its new or old as long as its good.

While I do prefer the sound of newer stuff (particularly Dragonforce), I have vastly more old stuff than new on my comp. My dad, having grown up on the old stuff, has probably thousands of songs, and he has given me around 300 of them, mostly of the Beatles (they have to be my favorite old band).

The only reason I dont have more old stuff is because I don't have the money to buy the cds or iTunes, and I care too much about the bands to illegaly download music (believe it or not, the bands do get paid for every bought song/cd, and if you get it without paying, they get nothing).

The 90's was the best year in music. It kinda went downhill after that.

while i listen to alot of new stuff,i will always respect the old stuff.cause you can't truly love the stuff that's out now if you don't know where it came from, right.i'm going with the old on this one.

Its kind of hard to decide for me. The music today isn't as good as the music in the past, although, this is my opinion. But then again, there is quite a few songs that are quite good.

I love the oldies. My parents got me into it and I never get tired of it. So pretty much I vote for both.

My iTunes ranges from Led Zeppelin all the way up to Dream Theater and The Mars Volta. The 70's and 80's were the best decades for music; it went downhill from there, with a few gems here and there.

I like the older stuff, definitely.

Old songs were the best, listening to them makes me wonder what happened to music.

You know, it is a huge pet peeve of mine to read these kinds of comments. The mainstream doesn't account for the VAST majority of new music. The mainstream has been a joke since the 80s. Remember, just because its not very popular doesn't mean its not good.

If you're talking about in my opinion, I'm going to have to say new music. That's what I'm growing up listening to, and it's what our generation is going to be remembered for. I like to keep with the times to my own extent. I'm not saying that old stuff is bad -- I don't have the time or the patience to ever get a good feel for all of the music that has come out in the past. Don't get me wrong, I like listening to Bach and Mozart sometimes, and not all Classic Rock is ****, but I'm going to be loyal to my generation.
