I guess that type of border works well with the light effects of the render, but I would have made a line border.
Everything else is good. Good job, you've gotten better since the rikku one.

Bleh don't ask me. I dont know...
Well ok, ill tell you the unnoficial way of making a border.
Make a new layer. In it, use the rectangle tool to make the border you want. Reduce fill in to 0%. Then, double click the rectangle in the layers box. Choose th options you want their and you get something similar to the border in my Curses sig(though that one isn't great).

Edit: that was for photoshop so dunno with GIMP
