First, buying games at retail might actually mean that you can buy vouchers to download the games, like we have for the PSP Go. Second for multiple types of storage, it could mean that you can use a memory stick and something else like an SD card. Third, I agree that would be a stupid idea to not have game cards in favor of digital distribution only. Fourth, I'm fairly certain that there will be game cards considering the more or less failure of the PSP Go. Fifth, I'm not a fan of digital only distribution as it is impossible to completely own the game if you can't get a physical copy, which is why I would flat out not buy the thing if I can't buy physical copies of games. Sixth, got a source for the battery life thing? I mean, the PSP 3000 has, what? A 3-5 hour battery? Considering that I have to charge my PSP 2000 after just about every single time I use it and I'm already pissed about probably having to do the same for the 3DS, that length is not much. Also, any word on whether or not the thing will hold a charge for more than a week of inactivity (which is downright stupid considering that I can leave my DS sitting around for literally months with no major charge loss)?

I might faint...If this thing is going to come out; screw the 3DS, I'll find a way to play KH3D somehow..But this, THIS is just too good to be true.

Yeah, I'm guessing it'll be about 3 to 5 hours in actual usage. Consider that they haven't nailed down the ideal life themselves yet, just a target length. Not to mention that actual usage tends to be a bit shorter than their projected ideal by multiple factors and variables.

There'll be more than one model of the NGP to buy. One with a 3G network availability and one without it. Obviously it's to get a cheaper version out there. Sony isn't being optimistic about the price...they're being reasonable. >> This thing will be more expensive than a 3DS due to the hardware on it.

PSP2: Now with more useless paraphernalia than ever!

Seriously, the majority of this stuff is just adding to the price. Options are nice for game developers, but it's going to make controls a pain, and my wallet light.

Oh wow. i was looking forward to getting the 3DS and this...so hard to decide...lol

Well I found out the system is going to be more pricey than the 3DS, some where between 50-100$ more than the 3DS. And it also has a Built in GPS^

The irritating thing is that I'm actually interested in the 3G networking, but I don't give a dime about the cameras, so I'll end up getting the expensive version.

Any word on internal flash memory, a la the PSP GO?

So what is the touch pad? The image didn't really make it clearer.

Does it have an accelerometer? I heard something about it. (Or is it just the six-axis?)

What do you mean by that? It's fairly simple. The touch pad is on the back of the system position directly behind the main screen. It's a 1-to-1 size ratio so it's the same size as the screen itself. Just think of the DS's touchscreen placed on the back of the NGP...except this one is better. The same goes for the screen itself though. Not much else to understand really.

Er...from what I've seen, an accelerometer hasn't been mentioned. Six-axis has though.

EDIT: Never mind. It has an accelerometer. Just checked.

@P: Are you just confused on what a touchpad is? The most common place to see it is as a mouse substitute on laptops. Basically a touchscreen - displaying anything. Haveing one on the other side of a device is becoming popular because it allows people to perform touchscreen like manouvers without obstructing the screen with thier hand. I do have one worry on that note though. The way I hold my PSP my hands rest where the touchpad would be, that is likely going to be annoying at first, but by no means a deal breaker.

Oh, you mean similar to a trackpad on a laptop?

I was confused, because it seems like a really stupid idea. Touchpads are fine as an alternative to a touch screen, but both on the same device? Seriously? That just screams 'waste of money'. Kinda like two cameras, but considerably worse.

    Exactly.

And Sony is notorious for overkilling systems, but I would rather that then for them to remove a feature that should be there. Like say, backwards compatability on the PS3.

You forgot to add that it will have a quad-core processor.
And they want it somehow to keep track of games played in PS3, so when you stop your game there you can continue playing it from the NGP from the point you stopped.
They say it's gonna cost about 400 euros.

Or dual analogs for a handheld that emulates the PSX.

They didn't overkill the PS2, did they?

Awesome. Lose the touch-pad, the accelerometer, six-axis, at least one of the two cameras and possibly the touch-screen, and we're good. I was never going to use those features extensively anyway.

I'd like the option for the 3G to be there though. A separate release for 3G support would be acceptable.
