Sorry, I didn't notice that the tiers idea went away. My bad.

It sounds like you do not understand the point of this suggestion. It is not about spicing things up or adding something new, it is about trying to give members an incentive to post in sections outside of the Spam Zone.

It would not be mean to normal members, it would be mean to the Premiums we have right now. If you just mean to make a new group with a new colour and new requirements then all that you are suggesting is that we stop calling it Premium, change the colour and the requirements. There is no difference.

But you suggest that we replace it with something completely different on whimsy. What kind of different? Why?

It is an entirely different suggestion and an entirely different debate unless you are willing to lay out every detail you have in mind.

Activity would peak for x amount of days, until the people who wanted to be in the group got in there, and then the activity would decrease. I agree with Chev regarding "tiers" within premium.

    It seems to me that the reason people want this is either;
They want a new color or
    They want to feel superior.

I don't want people posting in counting sections if it's only for the post count.

I think that's pretty much what Rat was suggesting; getting rid of Premium and putting something new in its place. Still an overhaul, just starting from scratch.

    I personally want neither.

I see that Premiumship is becoming inflated to an extreme. Most of the members who posted in this thread and most of the active posters in general are Premium members. If you have more active Premiums than normals, then you have a problem.

Any higher standard, either a new group or an overhaul of Premium, will fix that and increase activity past the current standard.

If I hear this one more time I think I'm just going to explode

Why is everyone so hard pressed to believe this

Do you want an active forum again or not

The idea is to get people to post more, to make the forum boom with activity and flourish. We can't just make this happen by asking and pleading, people need incentive and purpose. Noble is that incentive. It encourages you to post more and take part in forum discussions, to share your thoughts, beliefs and opinions. If you do this, if you can devote yourself to this ideal, you will eventually be rewarded with a whole new fleet of rewards and perks.

Yeah, I know it's about making people spam outside of the Spam Zone only for their post count, but then again, having this could spice things up as well. I mean, it would be something new, you know? Something new in the site, plus something to make people post.

Also, if we premiums REALLY want this new usergroup, then I dunno, we could somehow plant Premium and have it grow into something new magical and beautiful? And about something different, I dunno. It can be some new to look forward to. Im okay with Premium as it is, and having a new usergroup well I dunno about that, but it just feels like Premium has been around for so long. Which is no problem, but like I said, seeing something new pop up would feel refreshing to me. Maybe we can work something out who knows. But whatever the outcome, new usergroup or not, Im cool.

Im just putting down what I think and see what others think of it. Communication man.

Edit - And yeah it's true that the majority of peeps posting here are prems, and I don't feel so cool. We need to get some norms in here and listen to their thoughts. Pink name, white, red, blue, or black, we must hear each other.

why don't you guys just post in other parts of the forum out of the kindness of your heart? seriously, it feels like you're making a bargain: "hey staff, we'll make this site active once again as long as you give us these perks." if you want the site active, just post on your own free will. you really don't need to get something new out of this, and the whole "there are too many premiums" is a bullshit excuse to add in a new usergroup.

anyway, the minute people spam enough posts in other sections of the forum, they're all going back to the spam zone. i would rather not have pointless crap littering the other threads just so some people can get new perks.

I feel kind of bad about pulling this, but you have been here for almost three years and you have 69 posts.

If you will not be given incentive either out of the kindness of your heart or by rewards, then you have no place in this discussion. It will not affect you either way and you are merely here to criticize a change in your environment.

Guessing you will get offended. No helping that.

I already post outside of the Spam Zone from the bottom of my heart when I see something that interests me. I just think it'd be interesting to see something new pop up.

A new usergroup could be kinda fun imo. We don't have to have new perks or w/e, but maybe a new title or something I have no idea. Brainstorming and thinking up of something new seems exciting to me. I mean, just look at this thread its filled with posts.

You are presenting the point of perks again. Which can be solved by adding new perks to premiums. However, Rainshine and Makaze brought over another facet which I feel is the bigger point. People want to feel special (to which I presented another point)

I think everyone wants to see the forums active, to be honest. But both with new and old faces. Maybe making a usergroup will keep the older members wanting more and posting for that reason. But once that happens, inactivity will be a thing again.

A new usergroup will be shiny and nice. A novelty. But it will not increase activity in a manner where one could say it makes it super better aside from prems. You're also proposing premiums (or nobles) sacrifice username color changes. I don't think that will go over well. It may go well the first few times, but then as more people join the noble or prem rank, they're going to want a color change.

I was counting fairly well, I thought, but I suppose you are right. Spanned three years, amounts to two. My mistake.

Define "active". Your post count has changed by maybe ten posts since I joined the forum and first saw you.

But that is not the issue. Do you personally intend to increase activity out of the goodness of your heart, or are you just criticizing others in their endeavors?

around the time you joined the forums, i stopped coming around except for maybe once a month because i had other things to do? that changed about a month or two ago.. so in all honestly, i have about ten posts a month. it's not much, but i don't think that makes me unable to voice my opinion on this topic. i just don't think it's right that the majority of you are saying you'll make the site active again as long as you get so and so perks. if the site not being active is a problem, do something about it without needing to get a prize at the end, because either way, once people reach Noble, they'll all go back to the spam zone and then this would have been useless, despite the few months it would take for people to get those posts by spamming other threads where posts do count.

You're right about how when people reach the new thing they'll go back to posting in the Spam Zone, but you're forgetting that we're not the only members posting. There'll be new joining members who'll want to reach it.

Though Im not sure how that looks, seeing as right now the thing for normal members is premium and everyone's saying the site is not that active.

The same exact problem exists with Premiums. It is a user group that was created to give people a goal to reach, but once they do they stop caring and go to spam. Yet the Premium group exists. Would you have opposed its creation the same way? Do you think it has increased the activity of the site or not?

I edited my post, but I'll add the rest here for easy reading.

But that is not the issue. Do you personally intend to increase activity out of the goodness of your heart, or are you just criticizing others in their endeavors?

Except with a requirement of 3,500 posts, people aren't going to want to post their way to elite the same way they posted their way to premium. It's a much larger task without the same reward to compensate for it. You'd have to lower it to 2,500 or 2,000. There are 57,288 members on this site and only 7 of them have over 3,500 posts.

i don't have any opinion on premium because i was not there when it was implemented. i don't know if it's been here from the start of kh-vids, or if it was added in later. and no, it has obviously not increased the the activity of this site, because of what you said. once they reach 1,000 posts, they will stop posting in other sections and go back to the spam zone. so why in the world would you do the same thing twice?

i am criticizing because of people continuing to use: "this site will only become more active if we get these perks." i honestly feel like the only reason some people want this implemented is so they can receive said perks and they don't care if the forum will become active or not. because it won't. if anything, staff would have to deal with people spamming outside of the spam zone and posts will get deleted if they do not relate to a thread. it just seems like too much of a hassle for something that could easily be solved by just doing it on your own with no perks.

good lord, i'm just repeating myself.

That is part of the point. It should be something that should inspire even the older members to post more.

Premiums are so common that it does not even count as something worthwhile anymore. Not that the things you got were notable, but it has lost its meaning because everyone has it. It is just this thing that happens when you get one thousand posts.

I still support just overhauling Premium itself if possible, with or without the perk groups. We need something to raise standards of activity.
