First desktop I myself have paid for and chosen the parts for. Finally got here. It'll be awhile before I can use it though. Still gotta get a mouse, wait for my keyboard to arrive, and install an OS...

    Specs:

    i7-4790K
    GeForce GTX 770 2GB
    16GB RAM

It looks like it wants to eat me.

Prebuilt? How much did you pay for it?

Custom built. Though not built by my own hands.

    Paid under $1700.

The right to call myself a true member of the PC Master Race.

I am so proud of you... *Sheds manly tears*

Btw, now that you have a Godlike PC all you need is a preamp, one of those virtual amps and a DAW and you are ready to record (You can skip on the preamp though, I've been practicing guitar without one and the only difference is that the unprocessed guitar signal is much weaker)

Also, Solid State Drive or not?

Aw dude build it yourself, way more fun that way.

Don't listen to what anyone tells you, Windows 8 is basically a service pack to Windows 7 with some really nice improvements. Also ninite.com will save you a few hours.

Windows 8 is great if you have a touchscreen to use with it. I and dozens of other people really like it.[DOUBLEPOST=1405039021][/DOUBLEPOST]
    THANK YOU.

I already have everything picked out. Though the gear will set me back...loads.

    SSD always.

I've seen you post about ninite everywhere! So I know that I'll use it. And I am going with Windows 8.

Ah I see, good luck with it then. c:

    And nice.

As for me, I preferred to stay with Windows 7 because I'm already way used to it but... I don't have anything against Windows 8 and it's users.

    But all dem negative reviews.

Then yes, but it's not really user friendly for desktop users.

A lot of the stuff you like gets negative reviews. I guess that means your positive opinion of them doesn't count.

I use it without having to use my laptop's touchscreen at all fairly often and have no issues. For one thing, the Start Screen's search is much faster and easier to use than Windows 7's Start Menu. I can press the Windows key, start typing, and have what I'm looking for right there before I'm even done typing.

But that happens in Windows 7 too

The two can't even be compared. The negative opinions are only from people here. You can change the channel if you don't like something, but you can't simply revert to an earlier Windows version -- at least not easily.

I have a laptop and use a wireless mouse for it almost exclusively. I don't have any usability problems. You do have to adjust to some things but the improvements are worth it and now that I've given the start screen a chance I love it and wouldn't go back to a start menu. Most of the people who ***** about W8 just didn't take the time to learn a few new things.

the only thing I dislike about win 8 from the times I've used it on my sister's laptop is that sidebar that comes up whenever you move your mouse to the right of the screen. is there a way to disable it? because ive googled around and can only find a way to disable the hot corner things.

The charms bar? it only appears if you keep your mouse there for a while or swipe. I have two monitors and never have an issue moving between them and having the charms bar come up. It can probably be disabled or its behavior changed but i've never tried.

It never happened for me. It was always much too slow for me.
You can dual boot to try out the new operating system first and then uninstall one or the other depending on which you prefer. That's OS upgrading 101. Seriously, if you change operating systems without doing that, you have no business setting foot in that part of your computer.
