New Box Cover for KH: Dream Drop Distance

Hey everyone!

Square released the official cover for KINGDOM HEARTS: DREAM DROP DISTANCE for the Nintendo 3DS

Although there is no official release date for North America, Japan is able to see these bad boys on shelves, March 29th, 2012.

Re: Sora/Riku switching roles:

I suppose it is plausible--there's certainly evidence, obviously--but I don't know if Nomura would do that; as stated, Sora is supposed to remain the main character for the duration of the Xehanort Saga and beyond.

However, it would be pretty darn cool to see Riku reclaiming his role as the Keyblade's orginal Chosen.

Sora falling to Darkness would certainly throw a wrench in the plan of saving Roxas and Xion, but Ven in particular. As a heart of pure light, would he be able to survive in a corrupted heart? It's all very interesting, but I feel like KHIII is supposed to be the final battle, kind of like "Sozin's Comet" for Avatar.

Hmmm.

Sweet baby Arceus I'm in love with this cover. Easily my favorite of the series.

Though what concerns me (about the game itself) is Mickey going after Sora and him meeting Vanitas... Though I like that he's the main character it would add a very surprising and interesting twist to the story's future and progression

hnnng that is terrific. Might be my new favorite box art. Definitely reminiscent of Re:CoM. I think it's interesting that Sora is the one that seems to be falling and Riku is rising, but I might be reading too much into it haha.

For the ghostly thin comments though, I think that's just the way Nomura draws. Like it or not, all of the KH art is like that, haha.

I was actually wondering the same thing. If there was some meaning to it as to why Sora is falling and Riku is rising. XD
Or maybe Nomura is trying to trick us and there is something behind it.

Anyway, very nice cover. I love how Mickey is trying to reach for Sora. Thought it would be Riku though since they have a tighter bond.
Also LOVE the 10th anniverssary logo. Very clever. ^_^

Oh yeah, NOW WE ARE TALKING! If they make kingdom hearts III as good as the end of the legend of Aang then YEAH! SQUARE ENIX CAN TAKE OVER MY MONEY AS MUCH AS IT WANTS!
I read somewhere that a person who supposedly worked at SE said that the secret ending of KHDDD would be Xehanort coming flying out of the water in Destiny Islands and the sky turning gray, then I though "LOL! Looks like some fanfic that goes from bad to worse!" than after some thought, I reached the conclusion that by the way the KH is coming lately this could end up being true =D

It's a very pretty cover. Lovely artwork as usual by Nomura. They never fail to impress.
I hope there isn't much changes in the NA/EU box cover.

This looks amazing. It reminds me a bit of the cover for Re:CoM and the artwork is just astounding.

I was just thinking about this the other day, and the idea grew on me.

Perhaps it may not completely, or at all, happen in this coming game, but I expect Kingdom Hearts III to be very long, so hopefully Sora will struggle with his small drop of darkness that he has in his heart, then maybe they can take the idea from the Kingdom Hearts beta where Riki has to rescue him, or something like that.

This could work very well, given the fact that we've seen Vanitas' inclusion into the game.

We've also seen that he ends up in the Realm of Darkness, or something similar, at some point in the game. If he finally gets to struggle with his darkness, I hope that we can see a few references to past entries, like his sacrifice for Kairi in the first game.
