So i have an essay for the architecture class and i have to pick a historic building or monument from either Europe or U.S (my stupid professor won't let us pick anything from Asia <.<). I was thinking of picking something from Greece since we have a hell lot of historic (&ancient) buildings but i figured that most of my colleagues would do the same so i decided to pick something from a foreign country.

Now this is where you come in. I'm torn between New Orleans architecture or something from Scotland. Thing is, that either way i have no idea what should i choose and where should i search for info. I've found a few info about architecture in New Orleans and Scotland but i need some help deciding about what building or monument my essay shall be.

I would go with either Scotland, because the Hogwarts building is epic or the magical land of Narnia, that way you can meet Aslan and go see the famous lampost that started Narnia! ::L: Great thing to research.

I' m French and I traveled to England, Spain and Italy.
In Italy I mostly saw ruins, and in England, well, cathedrals. Pretty, sure, but we already got plenty of them in France.
Which leaves Spain. The Alhambra is vast and breathtaking. It' s Spanish-Moslem art, I don' t know if this fits your teacher requirements.

The Acropolis of Athens should contain a building or two. The Parthenon has a ton of details to talk about, as does the Erechtheion. I spent an entire year studying them for Classical Studies. (And now I'll never use the knowledge again).

Narnia wasn't a building, nor was it in Scotland. .__.

What? I'm not a real scholar, so why should I make such a claim?

Narnia is in a fictional world right...? I mean it's in Narnia

I will take that into consideration but i think i'll end up dead with a big hole on my stomach.

I know, we have a lot of buildings with great history, ancient and more modern but thing is, Acropolis is already taken, two girls already made an essay each about it to be honest so no need for a third one.

Actually the reason i am trying to find something "rare" is because i want to shut this cocky mouth of him. He is such an arrogant, show off teacher that seriously gets on my nerves, so i would like to find something that he might not know about (although i doubt it, he seems to know everything in western architecture) >.>

    Anyway, thanks for the help

Yeah, I know the feeling. I recently had a class with a teacher that I swear is a walking encyclopedia. The first few weeks of class you think that he just looks it up in preperation for his lecture (which for some precise statistics he did) but once the class started going on random tangents you would realize just how insane his knowledge base is.

Anyway, I don't know much on archetecture but to my unskilled eye this one looks like it could be interesting for you.
