Naming Video Game Characters For Yourself

I named my Ifrit Aeon in final fantasy X, X leon. It was based on a character I made up. But I usually keep the main character. I keep Tidus. But in golden sun, I renamed everyone in the game, even villains. But I regretted it later.

 

I name them all after characters of whatever I'm obsessed with. Example: If i'm obsessed with FMA, I'll name one of my characters Fullmetal.

 

I love naming characters

In Final Fantasy 6 I named every character.

Also in every FF game I name my character FreddyK or Freddy Krueger

I'm not sure why; it just seems to make sense to me

 

Rename by far. It's hilarious when ur name is "I (insert swear word here)" and someone calls u by that. XD

Yeah both choices seem to be the best in this poll, thats my opinion though.

 

It depends on the game. If it's like Zelda or something, I go with what they give me. If it's like Pokemon, I go with my own name.

 

That too sounds good, but if its kingdom Hearts I like both decisions.

 

Umm, Kingdom Hearts doesn't let you choose names for the characters. The only time you are given a choice for names are for the raft, and the gummy ships.

 

I just like keeping it default. It's easier and faster to.

 

I wouldnt want a game linked to real life, except in Pokemon I use a name close to mine.

If it's characters I keep the original names, but if it's a creature like a pokemon or aeon then I think of a good original name.

 

i much prefer to keep the original names for the characters. although i have a strange habit of naming my main guy Cassidy on the FF games for the PS1 0_0​

 

I definitely rename all of my characters in games. Sometimes I do it because a name sticks out, or because I want it to be funny. I totally renamed my rival in Pokemon the same as in VG Cats. Because it was funny.

I have another funny story. My mom loves playing Zelda, so to set her game apart from mine and my brother's she always names it Mom. So poor Link gets a gender change, and I still LOL when some NPC goes "Mom! We need to save Princess Zelda!" or something like that.

 

Or name your character "I'm gay"
Like in pokemon, professor Oak will be like..."I'm gay! wait up!"

I don't rename my characters. I will, if it's like Pokemon or for laughs, but I renamed Link with my own name, and it's kind of akward when they use my name instead of Link's. And I don't want to restart that file just because of a name since I got as farther than I ever have in a Zelda game.

 

I once changed Tidus's name to Cloud

 

I use my own names, I mean like in Zelda and FFX and stuff where
you can name your character, I usually do name the character by my
name.

But on other certain "make your own name" games I don't.
Like in KH1 when you get the chance to name the raft, instead of
"Highwind" I'd put something like "Your mom"

 

When there is a default name, I pick that one. When there's nothing to go by I just choose a name that would "fit" the protagonist.
