...And since I spend quite some time in the library, they've asked that I compile a list for them for recommended series. While I've got quite a bit, I'm hoping that you guys can help me out here. If you could list a series you recommend, as well as a brief summary (like general plot, if it includes violence/nudity/etc. and how much of it there is, how long the series is, genre) that would help me quite a bit. And obviously, since this is for a school, don't recommend anything with a lot of nudity, violence, swearing, and so on. Since the library is shared by both the middle and high schools, I'm gonna be separating recommendations into different categories. If you recommend a series, please put it under the appropriate category. :c This is what I've got so far, please don't repost these, lol. Spoiler Rurouni Kenshin Fullmetal Alchemist Chrono Crusade Wolf's Rain InuYasha Rin-ne Library Wars (oh the irony) Busou Renkin Naruto One Piece Bleach All Ages Young Teen Teen Older Teen (16+) Major thanks to whoever decides to help out.
Young Teen Groove Adventure Rave/Rave Master - A boy called Haru Glory wields a magical sword that can change forms and is on a journey to find magical artefacts called the Rave in order to stop an army of evil beings with evil magic and powers. Along the way he makes numerous allies and enemies and learns of the truth behind Rave. (I only got up to just a bit after the anime got cancelled so I'm not much help on a full summary). Mostly a shonen action-comedy series. It's a complete series. Fairy Tail - A series about a world where magicians are common and work in guilds. The series focuses on one guild called Fairy Tail and the adventures of a fire magician called Natsu and a summoning magician called Lucy. Another shonen action-comedy series, but with a few more sexual jokes compared to Rave Master. Still ongoing. I'll add more later, when I find my sort of not a list list of decent manga.
My school's library has tons of manga, some I've never even heard of. There's also lots of comics. We have the first ten volumes of Fairy Tail, and all of Rave Master, Chibi Vampire, and what's so far of Bleach. We also have four volumes of Naruto, which, for it's popularity is a surprise, some Rurouni Kenshin, Fruits Basket, three volumes of Kingdom Hearts and Orphen... And then there's the three volumes of Maximum Ride that have come out...
Kingdom Hearts- discontinued Fruits Basket- finished Shugo Chara-on going (I think) Full Moon(Very VERY good Manga)- Finished
We have an entire shelf dedicated to manga/graphic novels. :P We have manga, in volume numbers varying from 1 to 7: Spoiler ~Prince of Tennis ~Hikaru no Go ~Bleach ~Fruits Basket ~Card Captor Sakura ~Naruto ~Yu-Gi-Oh! ~Ruroni Kenshin ~Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember. :/ We also get Shonen Jump every month. Somehow, the free Yu-Gi-Oh cards are always gone when I get to them, and I get them pretty quickly... ;~; ...I did manage to nab Malefic Stardust Dragon before anyone else could, though. :3
Lucifer and The Biscuit Hammer (15+) Vagabond (18+) Mirai Nikki (18+) Dogs, and then Dogs: Bullets and Carnage (18+) Uzumaki (18+) Gyo (18+) Bakuman (12+) C.A.T. (16+) Yotsuba&! (5+) I don't feel like posting summaries.
Thanks for the recommendation guys, but...summaries would be extremely helpful since I don't have the time to look up each series. Same goes with content and whatnot. :/
Older Teen (16+) - Gintama - Bamboo Blade - Negima! (Don't get Negima Neo though its chibi crap) - Rosario + Vampire - Death Note (if you want something popular) - Chobits Can't really help you in the other departments... considering I think the rest of the manga I own is Mature. >.>
Teen? I think? Vampire Knight: Yuki Cross's earliest memory is of being attacked by a vampire and saved by Kaname Kuran, also a vampire. Ten years later, Yuki and the vampire hunter, Zero Kiryu are at Cross Academy as school guardians protecting the "Day Class" human students from the "Night Class" vampire students.
Kingdom Hearts- discontinued I think everyone on this forum knows what KH is by now XD Fruits Basket- finished Shugo Chara-on going in America over in Japan Full Moon(o Sagashite)-(Very VERY good Manga)- Finished Hope this help :)
AKIRA -Classic manga -Violence -a bit of nudity -Seinen Narutaru -Cute girl protagonists -Have cute mons -Fight to stop bad mon users -Violence -Graphic sexual violence -Seinen Alien Nine -Cute girls partner up with monsters to defend a school -Fairly dark -No rape -Seinen

Grr, you guys took all the good ones! ;_; My recommendation would be for Bakuman (Teen, 13+) Plot Summary: Middle school senior Moritaka Mashiro is convinced by the smartest kid in the school, Akito Takagi, to team up and create their own manga. Moritaka is even more pushed to create a manga when his crush, Miho, agrees to marry him when their manga becomes a hit and she becomes a voice actess. However, is creating a manga a achievable dream or one big gamble. It's done by the author and artist of Death Note, so that can easily catch a few readers. There's only about three volumes out in English so far (I think) and it's a really good read.
Godchild - Pretty sure this one is Older Teen, some might be Adult though, I'm not sure. There's sometimes a bit of blood/violence but it's never anything too bad imo, at least not for High School students. Keep the Middle Schoolers away though. It's about this young Earl named Cain Hargareaves in Victorian England who goes about solving mysteries and stuff with his manservant Riff. Eventually he gets involved in stopping this whole secret society run by his evil father who is supposedly dead. It's a lot better than I make it sound, haha. Eight volumes, finished. Seconding Vampire Knight too, that's an excellent one for both Middle Schoolers and High Schoolers, especially girls. Not to say that boys can't like it too. <3 High School Debut - About this girl named Haruna who enters High School looking for a boyfriend but fails badly. She gets this upperclassman to be her love coach, on the condition that she does not fall in love with him. So you can understand where the series goes of course. I think there's like 15 volumes? Probably appropriate for both Middle & High School kids, dunno the exact rating.
YOU GUYS. I LOVE YOU. As to DPWolf's question, I recommend Soul Eater for either teen or older teen; there are a few nudity scenes, if that poses a problem. Older teen category, just to be safe. Spoiler Rave Master is an obvious one; all ages or young teen. D. Gray-Man for young teen. Spoiler
