My older brother has been stuck with the sucky shift of working from 7pm to 4am. So hes been really mean lately. Should i convince him to find a better job or wait for him to get used to it.

depends on how well the job pays, if it pays really well you should let him keep it and wait for him to get used to it, if it doesnt really pay that well I would suggest a new job for him, possibly one without grave-yard hours O_o

I would talk to him about it and tell him to stop taking out his anger and being mean to people just because he's cranky from his long hours at work.

If he wants to keep it, tell him to blow off steam somewhere else. Because yelling at people for it won't help. If it continues, tell him it's his fault for picking a job like that. If he doesn't like it, tell him to find something else, no matter how much it pays.

Well hes been blowing off steam on video games. Thats why he hasnt been on this site in a while. Its usually when i try to get him to talk about work he blows up. As long as i dont talk to him about it hes ok because he'll let me play games with him without blowing up.

Tell him that just because his hours suck and it's stressful, it doesn't give him the right to take it out on you. I don't think that's very fair. If it pays well, he should keep the job, and learn how to handle stress better.

You don't deserve the punishment he gives you. It's his fault for what he chose. If you REALLY hate his steam, convince him for a better job then.

Is that really the best job for him if he could have a stroke as a result of too much stress?

I'm going to assume your older brother is in his late teens.

Don't make him get a better job because it's better for you.
This economy isn't don't great for teenagers and young adults because people would rather hire adults with more experience.

If you ask him to quit it will make things worse.
He will get used to it in time.

+I am also an older sister,so I know about how little sisters/brothers can be a bit annoying after coming home late or just being a pest;are you sure you aren't being the "cherry on the cake" as they say? After a long day...Are you asking something of him?
Are you provoking him in anyway?

Hes 22 and the guardian for me, my brother and baby sister. our parents died 2 years ago and he was the only person in the family that would take us in.

I guess im provoking his stress by getting him to talk about work because if that isnt brought up hes ok.

should i just not bring up work because that may solve it.

I've had that kind of job before. Both times I worked in factories, once my hours were like 4PM-midnight, and another, it was 4AM-noon. It wasn't very fun, but it paid pretty well. In this economy especially, he shouldn't give up a sure thing unless he has another job lined up.
