My life sucks

I don't think my family likes me anymore. My mom told me to give a kiss to my borther; but i absolutly hate him! He treats me like crap, and steals all of my things, but she thinks he's a sait. When i refused, she was going to take my stuff. I attempted to do it, but i couldn't. She told me if i couldn't do it, i'm going to move out. Losing a big piece of my self respect for myself, i did it. My mom still said that if i didn't behave, she's kicking me out! I'm only 16 years old!!!

 

Wow, that really stinks. Is there any reason you can think of to explain why your brother treats you so badly? Or why your mom would be so harsh?

 

No idea about my mom, but my brother is younger than me. He's treated me like crap all my life, and is seen as perfect. He's always a tattle-tale (if that's how it's spelled), and is just a jerk.

I'm sorry you're in such a bad situation, I have no idea what it's like to be in that kind of position where your mom threatens to kick you out. Maybe if you could talk to her about how your brother treats you, then she'd be less harsh. Of course, if she does see him as perfect, well, talking to her probably wouldn't do much good. Still though, it's better than doing nothing.
Maybe just put on an act where you pretend to like your brother, then she'd see the difference and trust what you have to say a little more.

 

My mom never listens to me. Everytime i try to stand up for myself, she either alters what i say; or she inturupts me constantly to say her point over and over again!

My family does that too and I treat my brother badly because he treats me badly, and who get's the blame?

They're called brothers for a reason. Take out the first "r" and it spells "Bother" :/. they're supposed to act like that. You're his role-model and apparently, he's getting this behavior from someone...

Treat him to the best you can. Get to know him better or something...

I don't blame your mom for wanting you and your brother to be close, because you only know them once your whole lifetime. After you or he's gone, you'll never see him again and then you'll wish you had.. </3

 

In his defense, loving someone just because you're related is easier said than done. I know what it's like not to love a family member because they're not kind towards you (Not as serious as Tummer's situation, but still). It's tough to do that. Because when you love someone, you open your heart and risk getting hurt. It's easier to get hurt more by people you care about than to get hurt by a stranger.

I agree with the second bold sentence. If you act kind towards him, maybe he'll have a change of heart or something. Things could improve if you show you're willing to work on the relationship.

 

I just cannot get along with him. I'm forced to sleep in the same room as him, and he forces me to the otherside of the bed (not facing the tv). Whenever i try to get the other side, he tells my mom and i get in even more trouble. I've resorted to sleeping on the floor.

 

I agree with you in the first paragraph and TY for the aggreance in my comparison.

It really IS hard to love someone though, I should probably Edit that.

 

That's really rough =(. It doesn't sound like there's much you can do, except try to get on his good side. I know it'll be really hard, but really, that's the only option I can see at the moment.

 

There's only one last thing i can do. I have to work hard in school the next two years and get a scholorship; that way i can go to a college a long way from this place. Other than that, i really don't have any other options.

 

Until then though, you need to do something about your brother. If I were in your position, I would just try to stay distanced (which is hard if you share a room) and try to get along with him. Patience and kindness can help fix even the worst situations.

 

That could work, but my family NEVER listens to me. I'm like the black sheep in the family; i don't like all the other stuff they don't. Just because i'm different, they think it's entertaining to toruture me from dusk until dawn.

 

How are you so different from the rest of your family?

 

We'll i have a heart problem which doesn't permit me to do sports, and my family is filled with softball players. I'm not that much into that sport, or any for that matter. I also like country and i hate rap, hip hop, and r&b. My family is addicted to that stuff, but dislike country; so i have to suffer. And another thing is that i love anime/manga. When i try telling them about it, they look at my like i should be put in a mental hospital.

 

1. That's awful for them to have a grudge against you for not being able to do sports.
2. Music differences, really not that big of a deal. At least, it shouldn't be.
3. Anime/manga, well, I don't really like it so I have nothing to say on that subject.

Still, they ARE your family, and they should be more understanding that you're an individual. In fact, they should be proud that you're not afraid to do your own thing.

Maybe they don't take an interest in what you like because you seem so closed off to their ideas? Just a thought.

 

My parents want me to be like the kids constantly. I'm my own person, but they don't seem to get that through their heads. With the music thing, I have to listen to it on the radio, and i can't stand it. I hate it because it talks about sex, drugs, and other bad crap (no offese if you like it). Everytime i ask my mom to change it, she just ignores me and keeps on driving.

 

No offense taken. I hate bad music like that. It sounds like you need to have a serious talk with your mom, I mean, maybe she won't listen, but it sounds like she needs to hear about all your frustrations. It couldn't hurt anything, anyway.

 

We'll she could yell at me and tell me that i'm just being stupid. I'll probably get in more trouble for standing up for myself.

 

Is there any other relative or family friend that you can talk to about this? Somebody that could get through to your mom?
