Stuck in Arizona for a while I was home alone while my mom was out with a friend. I let the dog out for a walk, I came in, but she didn't. I heard a sharp cry in the distance; was it her? I ran to see my dog's neck torn open and another dog walking away. Cala is now dead. I run to my neighbors out of panic. No tears come from me, just blood. I feel no pain, no suffering. Am I a bad person?

No, I find that when something terrible happens... I feel nothing for a long time, sometimes never, and then it hits me after a while, and it's sometimes to far in time to feel more than anger and frustration at yourself for not feeling sooner, but sometimes it hits me really hard and I can't stop crying, but no, you're not a bad person for not feeling any remorse or regret :]
    It happens.

You're still in the stage of indignation and amazement. Usually those feelings make room for sadness within the next week or so, although it may take longer.
My condolences to you. It's quite a horrifying thing to see.

People are different when it comes to animal loss. In my case, it doesn't bother me a whole lot. I was a meat cutter by trade before I got sick. I also worked in a slaughter house for the better part of a year as part of my certification training. The sight was far from pretty but over time you sort of get desensitized to the sight of the animals being killed before your eyes. I know it's different because it's a pet, but the point is that each persons feelings vary.

    cala...
i have hopes that you will feel sadness for the poor dog...
you donät have to cry for anything but showing no sadness to a dead friend is ...wrong...

may cala's soul rest in peace....

umm at least you didnt laugh right?

I probably would be bawling, I get attatched to people and pets like realy quickly.

But maybe t was just so sudden that you were just startled or something.

How horrible! I would hate to have seen that happen to my dog. I can kind of sympathize--my first dog passed away over the summer, but she died of a natural death, so it wasn't as bad as your situation. I'm very sorry for your loss. :(

You're not a bad person. You seem shocked and want revenge, right? Some people cry later on, some don't at all.
But I'm really sorry about your dog. I don't know what it feels like to loose a pet, but I bet it feels horrible.

No, you're either not very close to him, or it just hasn't sunk in yet. (One time when one of my dogs died I wasn't really affected for awhile, and then it hit me and I started tearing up a little bit.)

What a horrible way for a dog to die.
